Sophia Loren's Italian Villa From Life Magazine

Let's See What Sophia Loren Was Up To...In 1964

In June of 1964, the legendary actress Sophia Loren opened the doors to her jaw-dropping Italian villa to the world in a photographic feature by Life magazine. Loren's husband, film producer Carlo Ponti, bought this villa for her to fulfill the promise that he would get her the "most beautiful house in the world" when they married. And one of the most beautiful houses it definitely was. With rooms that were lavishly decorated with frescoes, golden statues, grand chandeliers and large, luxurious furnishings, the villa was as glamorous as the silver-screen actress herself. And, of course, it almost goes without saying that there's a Hollywood-style pool, an outdoor terrace, and, yes, 50 rooms in total.

Scroll through the slideshow to peek into Loren's stunning villa. And when you're done taking in her Italian estate, here's some of her most glamorous looks over the years.
