Apple stores across the U.S.--and the rest of the world--threw open their doors on October 14, welcoming the throngs of customers waiting patiently to get their hands on the iPhone 4S, Apple's latest update to its celebrated line of handsets.
The new device, similar in design to the iPhone 4 but with beefier specs, came as a disappointment to those who were hoping for a more souped-up iPhone 5. Nevertheless, scores flocked to Apple stores around the world on the morning the 4S went on sale. Some even queued up the day before.
