Chicago Sun-Times :

U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) and his ex-wife will go before a judge next month and make their best arguments about whether Walsh owes and must pay $100,000 in back child support, lawyers for the two parties agreed Friday.

"My client wants this resolved," Joe Walsh's attorney Janet Boyle, told Cook County Judge Raul Vega.

As deadbeat dads go, this one has had sent up some real classic excuses these past couple years: There was: "She was really the bread winner in our family so I should have demanded support from her." Then there was: "One of the three kids stayed with me for a few weeks so I obviously don't owe any support for THAT." To all these sanctimonious, tea-drinking, culture warriors -- keep your advice on fiscal responsibility and morality and do you know what with it. I am fed up with this hypocrisy. My sympathies to his wife and five children -- You deserve better than this lemon

The only thing I see that he has as a potential out is if he can prove the children were residing with him for equal amounts of time, but that would be very difficult to prove. He should have gone to court and modified the agreement instead of doing a "verbal" agreement. The fact he has not presented his financials is a red flag. He has not done it for this case nor has he done so per Congressional rules. Which should be a warning to voters as well.

Also, for the curious, it's always good to know who is funding your politicians. This one is fond of banksters and a few other big companies in the area. Not surprising. Of course, now that he is running against a fellow Rep, it will be interesting to see if he will get the same support...

This guy is impulsive and sloppy and doesn't pay attention to detail. Not in his personal life or in his professional life. And it shows.

And my favorite: "Our divorce and child support issues were so contentious that she and I got sick of all that and secretly agreed unbeknowst to our attorneys or the court that I didn't have to pay any child support and I kept up my end of THAT verbal agreement because I'm an honorable guy, but now we're seeing that she is not honorable because she's still acting all contentious like we didn't have a secret squirrel agreement at all..." Wouldn't you love to hear him explain the broken lamp to his mother when he was 7?

Let the kids fend for themselves.

Let old people get sick and die.

Get rid of the safety net.

Turn the country into Lord of the Flies.

And poison everything else.

What is wrong with Republicans brains?

I can't wait to hear their arguments. "I shouldn't be forced to pay by and activist court". "This is the government intruding on my private life". If he get re-elected I will seriously have to doubt the sanity of my district. I suppose it would be the will of the people but perhaps we should retest for lead in our water.

He may not have a real job but he has real pay and lots of it..... nearly $200,000 a year plus benefits that most of us would die for.

The headline: "The Congressman wants to resolve all of this". My questions to the congressman would be: Why can't you resolve this? If resolving a simple child care issue is so complicated for you, do you think the country's more complicated issues is way above your capabilities? You have judge the president of being incompetent, do you think you are competent? then handle this one issue for yourself first, then come back and let us know why it took you soo long?

Hey Joe you want to resolve this then just pay your child surpport. But again the harder you fight doing right, the less likely you'll be re-elected. You would be in jail if you were a blue collar worker behind in your child support, you should be in jail, Dead Beat
