Rachel Maddow At Occupy Wall Street (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 10/14/11 09:40 AM ET Updated: 12/14/11 05:12 AM ET

Rachel Maddow journeyed down to Occupy Wall Street in the early hours of Friday morning, just as the protesters in the Lower Manhattan encampment were preparing to face off with New York City police trying to eject them from the park they have been occupying for weeks. (The protesters won their battle with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who had tried to get them to leave on the grounds that the park needed cleaning. Eventually, police arrested five protesters.)

Maddow said she saw a substantial police presence, and she snapped pictures of large crowds preparing, in her words, to "defend" the encampment. Below, see a series of Maddow's tweets from the scene. She is just the latest media figure to travel to Occupy Wall Street — people ranging from Erin Burnett to Keith Olbermann to Ed Schultz to Tamron Hall have all reported from the site of the protests.

Rachel Maddow is one hell of a good anchor. I wouLd say the BEST.
She is honest .. and if she makes a mistake she says so and what is more, I would say ninety-nine percent of her comments are true .MSNBC has probably got the best investigative group in this country. She is funny and and does not take herself seriously like so many of the air-bags on Faux do.I AM THINKING HERE OF THAT POUFFED OUT BLONDE ON FAUX WHO OPENES THE FIRST THREE BUTTONS OF HER BLOUSE JUST AS THE CAMERAS START ROLLING.
HOW PATHETIC. THEN THE REST OF THE PROGRAM HER BREAST KEEP TRYING TO FALL OUT ON THE TABLE.
Propaganda for the incompetent.

Thank you Rachel Maddow for your appearance at OWS and your support on MSNBC.
We have to win the media battle. This isn't going to be easy, because the 1 percent owns the media. But they don't own the Internet. Well they do, but they can't stop us from using it. And we have to use it well enough to force the rest of the media to pay attention and do the right thing. When a reporter lies about how many people were at an event, we need to use the web to tell the truth. When a reporter tries to spin a story to undercut what we're doing, we need to use the web to tell the truth. They won't do it unless we force them to.
This Tea Party Movement, which brought guns to gatherings, spit on members of Congress, and used racist language against President Barack Obama, and has no concern about the future of millions of middle class and poor families, has the gall and nerve to set out to destroy the reputation of ordinary citizens, who are having their homes taken away from them, their jobs lost, their children’s college education debts soar beyond ability to pay, their health care being denied, and their pensions being decimated, and seem to think this should be reacted to in silence, while the top one percent control 40 percent of the income, and continue through Wall Street to victimize America daily with their greed and selfishness!

I lied her better before she had her own show. She is on an ego trip, and I cannot watch her any longer, but then that goes for most of those that are now on MSNBC.

I sure do miss that sweet educated Tim Russert! A good man, and he reported the facts!!! His family should be proud!

Stossel and Geraldo go to the OWS and get sent packing with chanting of Liars Liars Liars and then Rachel shows up and they love her, because they know they can trust her. I love it. Go Rachel!

Even in my small town, organization is happening, community calls being made to join the protests. If anyone believes that revolution cannot happen in America, they need only to look around the world. People want to be treated equally and fairly. We do not even have basic healthcare for all in this country, and people have lost their homes and their jobs. People are angry. I advocate attempting change with your vote and if that doesn't change things then use your words and peaceful demonstration to get your point across. If they don't start listening to the people, I honestly believe that people will create their own change. It is an interesting time to be alive.

Reading this thread with it's Fox News droids, I'm reminded to post again that those of us who watch MSNBC need to complain to cable and Dish service companies everywhere about their unfair practice of keeping MSNBC exclusive to the higher priced cable/dish packages, especially in these hard times. I need to economize on my cable package, but if I go too the next plan down or to another provider I automatically lose the network and am stuck with only the more right leaning CNN and Faux. It ought to be illegal to make one news network (more progressive one) less affordable for viewers. Don't we have enough uniformed sheeple already?

Yes, it would be nice if CNN and MSNBC could make themselves more accessible like Faux. If you have HDTV, Faux is available even with the lowest possible cable plan 15. to 20. dollars a month.

They can't be more accessible because nobody watches they're dribble. You need ratings first

It was only a matter of time before Rachel would leave the studio looking for an audience. When the light goes on and Rachel Maddow goes on the air with no one to hear it, is it still a show?

It takes an IQ to understand the news, so people with an IQ will watch her.

To the people mocking Maddow & the protestors; When you lose your job, your education, your home and your health you're perspective WILL be one of gratitude towards the protestors. What makes you think that the rich and powerful won't go after you - constant name-calling in Huff. Post?
