AOLLatino.com:

Although he's aware that some people "are uncomfortable by his nature," Puerto Rican Ricky Martin defended his sexual orientation and said that he'll continue singing, detracting some level of importance from several acts of censorship of which he's been a target of.

According to information obtained by Mexican news agency Notimex, it was upon his arrival to Nicaragua, where he was scheduled to perform Friday as part of his 'Musica+Alma+Sexo' tour, that the singer declared he is a gay man ready to defend his right.

Why would anyone care about his sexual orientation? Let's talk about the good he does for children and others in need.

Gay youth who need to see examples of happy, strong and healthy gay people care. It's also healthy for them to see how accepted he is. If you accept him then you are also helping. Thanks!

Agree with you completely; our gay youth needs more positive gay role models.

Don't worry about people's negative perspectives on the fact that you like men. Fight them and stick up for your rights and don't look back or give in to the monsters that want to destroy you.

"Ricky Martin: Although being gay makes some people uncomfortable, I'll fight for my rights"

Really, Ricky? Do you think kissing up to George Bush and being a Republican was fighting for your rights?
08:24 PM on 10/15/2011
That is a LIE - Ricky Martin was never a Republican and he didn't support George Bush.

The fact that gayness makes some people uncomfortable is exactly WHY Ricky Martin should fight for his rights.

I still remember his interview with Barbara Walters when he used words like lethargic and other flowery language which basicall confirmed my suspicions about him. He told Barbara Walters during an interview with her back in the day when she asked him bluntly that he doesnt feel like answering the question. This was another cope out but still a further confirmation to me and other gays about which team he is batting for.

With all of the hate out there, I cannot blame him for not wanting to answer. No body should be forced out, that is his or her decision.

Hes a proud homosexual now but years ago he was a closeted homosexual who denied being gay and even had fictitious relations with girls to help proove his so called heterosexualness. He made his money as a hetero dancing around with girls swooning and now that his fame died down he fathers children and comes out. With his coming out he now is going to peddle a book about his homosexuality to make more money from the gay community. If he truly was proud he would have just come out from the start as an example to other gay teens who find it hard instead of deceiving the public. I guess money is more important then integrity though in this world.

I saw on the news how some religios extremists (for lack of a better word) in Nicaragua protested his performing there because it went against their "family values." Hypocrites.

Hypocrites(?)... I didn't realize they promoted it and turned against him! Stupid!

What rights? Gays have never in all of history had the "right" to marry. Nor should they have. You have partners, civil unions, etc. but marriage is for men and women to each other not homosexual unions.

Interracial couples never in all of history had the "right" to marry... until 50 years ago. Traditions change with a more enlightened society. The Supreme Court has already said numerous times that marriage is a civil right of every man (person). There is no rational legal basis to deny gay couples the right to marry. PS: You don't "own" marriage. There is nothing magical about Rush Limbaugh's 4th till-death-do-us-part marriage. Based on the pathetic divorce rate of heterosexuals, it's laughable that you think marriage is beyond the reach of gay Americans.

To bad. it will be legal in all 50 states. deal with it. nd by the way, up till recent history marraige was between a man and many women. read a history book.

A man and many women is better than the unnatural and perverse man with a man and woman with a woman.
