Scarlett Johansson: Divorce Made Me 'Quite Depressed'

Actress Scarlett Johansson is finally opening up about her divorce from Ryan Reynolds, which was finalized this past June.

In a candid interview with German magazine GALA, the usually tight-lipped star revealed that she was "quite depressed" after the couple split. The actress relied on her close girlfriends, her twin brother Hunter and her 89-year-old grandmother Dorothy to help her get through the break-up.

"After about a week or so I pulled myself together and started to go to the gym all the time," the actress told the German-language magazine (via the Toronto Sun)

But don't expect the star to reveal what caused her marriage's demise. "That question is too personal," she says. "I will only tell you this: I can be overcritical -- with myself and with other people. And I don't compromise."

Johansson admitted to other flaws too: "I pass judgment on people quite quickly. If I don't agree with someone or if I'm annoyed I will tell people to their face -- no matter how hurtful that might be. That can get me into trouble from time to time."

Johansson and Reynolds married in 2008 and announced their separation at the end of 2010. The pair is known for keeping their relationship private.

She obviously suffers from the "Cinderella Syndrome". Ryan Reynolds is extremely private about his life but he did admit that she was very mean to him during their marriage. She herself just admitted how judgmental & overcritical she is, she is not willing to compromise and has no regard for saying hurtful things to others. Sounds like Bridezilla to me! Be happy to be out of that abusive relationship Ryan!!! Enjoy being single and run Ryan run as far from Scarlett as you can.

A lot of you are making fun of Scarlett for taking only a week to get over her divorce. You're overlooking the 'or so.' She said it took her a week 'or so' to get over it. 'Or so's' are quite important, albeit somewhat vague. The exact length of an 'or so' may mean different things to different people. I happen to think that an 'or so' is a little better defined than an 'or thereabouts,' but I don't really know what Scarlett's definition of 'or so' is. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and think that perhaps, to Scarlett, an 'or so' is about ten days. Add that on to the original week, and you have an incredibly long period of time spent in seclusion. Definitely time to hit the gym!

She's probably depressed because she thought she was special to him. He moved on really quick and remarried. She probably didn't want kids, just like Jennifer Aniston. But all in all, I feel he's in a better place now.. He's happy!

He's moved on alright, but he didn't quickly get married. Quite single, but Hollywood tries to matc him up with everyone he looks at. If photos proved correctly, SHE moved right into a brief relationship with Sean Penn.
