The Fastest-Growing Colleges

First Posted: 10/14/11 01:51 PM ET   Updated: 12/14/11 05:12 AM ET

Amid reports of rising tuitions and mounting student loan debts, it's no surprise that most of the fastest-growing colleges in America are public schools.

The Chronicle of Higher Education calculated which campuses have seen the most growth between 2004 and 2009, based on total population of full-time, part-time, graduate and undergraduate students. See the full list at the Chronicle.

Why is the image for Missouri University of Science and Technology basically a bunch of relatively featureless siding?

UNC-G get major props for campus improvements. It is a beautiful campus compared to what it looked like the late 80s.

I actually live in that area and walk down to Tate Street for coffee very often. I like the improvements and the ripple effect it is having on my neighborhood and the areas around the campus.

My daughter is a junior at UNCG -- she loves it! I've seen her grow up a lot while there. Only 1.5 years to go, it does go by quickly.

George Mason University is on its way to become one of the best public schools in the east coast if not in the country.

UCF has been growing by leaps and bounds. I believe that it is now steadily approaching 60 thousands students. This is a far cry from when I first attended - 22 years ago - when the population was less than one-third that number.

first time I've ever seen my school on a huffingtonpost list: UNCG. I can think of some other comparative articles that should have included this school (low tuition.. one of the lowest in the UNC System).

Agree, since we are supposed to be getting a medical school soon.
