iPhone 4S Reviewed By Users: 'Amazing,' 'In Love,' 'Fast'

First Posted: 10/15/11 10:03 AM ET   Updated: 12/15/11 05:12 AM ET

The critics have weighed in on the iPhone 4S, calling it "astoundingly good" and "zippier", but yesterday, following the official release of the new iPhone, we had a chance to hear from users who shared their thoughts on the latest Apple smartphone.

We asked people on Twitter who'd tried the iPhone 4S to post short reviews of the device with the hashtag "#iReviewiPhone4S."

Almost everyone who replied had positive things to say about the iPhone 4S, though when it launched it was criticized as a "disappointment" given that it was not the widely-expected iPhone 5.

"For the first time an apple device is pure substance and less facade! Genius," wrote user @patbanerjee.

Pople called the phone "fast," "amazing," and "sexy," with Apple's new voice-controlled "personal assistant" Siri a standout feature for many.

"As for Siri, she's my new best friend," tweeted one person.

AT&T proved yet again to be a headache for some. One user wrote, "Can't get it to activate on AT&T, been 3 hours trying!"

See users' reviews of the iPhone 4S in the slideshow below, then check out what the critics said about it. Share your thoughts on the device by tweeting @HuffPostTech with the hashtag "#iReviewiPhone4S."

Hey, in all fairness, this one took more than a year to come out. ;-)
Not six months. Hehe

I really like my iPhone4 but can't wait 'til I can get AWAY from at&t!! I can't talk in my home (no service) and can barely text. Count down to switching to Verizon or Sprint to avoid at&t penalty for leaving them. I hate them, hidden charges and all.

Waste height face up
Shoulder height face up
Waste height face down

Pretty obvious why Apple can now sell their phones so cheaply.

Politicians...they ruin everything.

While my portfolio appreciates all of the Apple fans who just had to have this phone on day one...or atleast weekend one...of its release, any customer review is pretty much non-valid because of who bought one so early. Of course anyone who stood in line isn't going to have anything but a biased opinion of the device.

Going to let it go a month or two before upgrading from my 3GS.  By then, they'll have over 2M of these in the wild, and any issues will have rissen to the surface.

In the meantime, I can enjoy the thousands of articles from the press and major tech sites trying to explain why there predictions were so off.  :)

I heard that the 4S only plays songs purchased through ITunes, or something like that. Is this true or ??

No, no you're confused ... the iPhone itself can now play songs from many sources (as long as they are encoded in a limited set of Apple supported proprietary codecs) ... It's the majority of iPhone owners that can only play songs purchased from iTunes. LOL

I have always used iphones and have almost 10 gigs of music on my current one. Not once have I ever not been able to play music. Not one of those songs was purchased thru itunes either.

No, you are the one trying to confuse. The iphone has always played standard media audio files - mp3, mp4 and more. That it doesn't play WMA files by M$.... this is a good thing.

The 4S is awesome.
05:07 PM on 10/16/2011
however awesome the phone might be, you have to be on ATT or Verizon, and both of those companies donate money to the tea-party. so you'd better be comfortable paying around $100/month to the tea-party if you want an iPhone.

i'm glad i'm on Credo(Sprint), even if their phones suck.

Not only does sprint have some excellent android phones, the EVO 3D, Galaxy S 2, and the Nexus S 4G, but they also have... wait for it... the iphone.

Apparently she didn't read the article. Or didn't see all of the Sprint ads talking about the iPhone 4S.

I'm typing this from a 4s on sprint right now.

Verizon and ATT

Just another toy. If Blackberry drops out your service cost will double and you will still own a toy. No Email - No Smart Phone. The providers have us by the throat for server business services. RIM has them by the throat and we better hope RIM sticks around.
I4, Droid, what-ever? All Toys without a serious server.
Just a thought, My LG Dare get email instantly. How is it that my expensive Motorola Droid gets it 1/2 an hour later, sometimes not until I load the email program. TOYS

These people need to realize they are not reviewing the iPhone 4s as much as they are actually reviewing iOS5. iphone 4s would have been a total flop without it.

Not really, most the the iphone 4s's praises (other then SIRI) are related to software changes that anyone with a iphone4 could get... i.e. faster camera, imessage, new notification system, etc.

A lot of improvements to the phone were software based that iphone 4 and iphone 3gs users can also get. So when people get the iphone 4s and go ZOMG THIS IS SO AWESUM I GOTS IMESSAGE don't realize it has nothing to do with the hardware.
