Coldplay will appear on "The Colbert Report" this Thursday, Oct. 20, to perform a song from their upcoming album "Mylo Xyloto."

Comedy Central Insider announced that the band will play a song off the new album, marking its TV debut, and then Coldplay will play another song that will be posted exclusively on ColbertNation.com next day. This comes just a month after "Colbert" hosted Radiohead in a very special one-hour episode, "Dr Pepper Presents Stephen Colbert's Rocktember With Radiohead Who Present Themselves Because They Are Nobody's Corporate Tool, Brought To You By Dr Pepper, The Official Soft Drink Of Radiohead."

It only makes sense for Colbert to quickly then feature another British band clearly borne in the wake of Radiohead's influence to be the next, rare musical guest on the show. Although no official statement has been made yet of what song the band will play, it seems likely that they will choose one of their two singles that have already been released, "Paradise" and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall."

The new album, which is a concept album entitled "Mylo Xyloto" (and not "Zenyatta Mondatta" no matter how badly we want to call it that) will be released next Monday, Oct. 24.

Stewart and Colbert have a bad habit of featuring these over-promoted, under-talented performers of mass-marketed recorded product. They liked this stuff when they were adolescents and never grew up.
