Disabled Woman's Dog Held For Ransom; Kidnappers Demand Cash, Painkillers (VIDEO)
Jennifer Thomas just wants her dog back.
The Woodland, Wash., woman says she is currently feeling pressure from kidnappers who are holding her dog, Jaggar, for ransom, demanding not only $1,000 for his return, but her prescription drugs as well.
Thomas says she saw a man and a woman drive off with the dog more than a week ago. She later received text messages from people claiming to have the pooch, according to KATU News.
"People have a hard time even believing it," Thomas told KATU. "I can't believe it! This kind of stuff doesn’t happen in our lives."
The abductors seemed to know she was in a wheelchair and figured they could extort her for prescription drugs, according to an ABC News video.
Thomas fears the kidnapping could become a case of animal cruelty. She says she has received text messages indicating that if she doesn't "pay up," the abductors will torture and eventually kill the dog.
The Seattle Times reports that despite being warned not to alert authorities, Thomas has contacted Cowlitz County police for assistance. However, it seems the investigator on her case is on vacation for a week.
Thomas still doesn't know how she'll get her dog back.
