Amusement Parks In Oklahoma: A Huffington Post Travel Guide

Posted: Updated:

Amusement parks in Oklahoma are a great way to enhance the thrill of your visit to the state. Whether enjoying roller coasters in a historical Oklahoma City western-themed park or racing go-karts and hitting balls at the batting cages, your family will find fun at Oklahoma parks. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on amusement parks, here is our guide to all the key information visitors need to know about Oklahoma amusement parks.

Frontier City

Frontier City is both a western-themed amusement and water park. While the amusement side has rides for everyone in the family as well as shows and special events, White Water Bay water park offers visitors a cool break from the hot Oklahoma summer weather.

Fast As A Speeding...

Frontier City's signature ride is the Silver Bullet coaster (formerly the Schwarzkopf Looping roller coaster). The steel ride includes an 80-foot drop and enough loops to make it a dizzying, if not memorable, thrill.

Water and Western

Frontier City has rides for all members of the family and all levels of thrill seeking, including water rides like Mystery River Log Flume and Renegade Rapids. The park also offers western shows such as The Wild-West Gunfighter Stunt Show and Two John's Saloon Revue along with live concerts.

Plenty Of Snacks

Frontier City has plenty of dining options in the form of restaurants as well as snack shops, a saloon and a cantina. Options include park favorites like burgers and fries, pizza, corn dogs and sweet treats like Dippin' Dots and slushes.

Safety Record

While incidents at Frontier City are infrequent, in 2008 the Silver Bullet roller coaster broke down and four riders needed to be rescued, according to News 9 in Oklahoma City.
