Giuliana Rancic On Cancer Revelation: 'A Heavy Weight Has Been Lifted' (VIDEO)

Giuliana Rancic took to her own E! news show on Monday to talk about her newly public battle with breast cancer.

Rancic announced on Monday's "Today" show that she was suffering from the disease, which she said was discovered after a doctor at an IVF clinic insisted that she have a mammogram before making her third attempt to have a child.

Speaking to co-host Ryan Seacrest, Rancic said that she felt as though "such a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders." She revealed that she has been keeping the diagnosis secret "for a while."

Seacrest asked what made Rancic decide to go public. She said that it had been a "very difficult choice," and that she had initially thought she would never tell anyone what she was going to. Eventually, though, she said she decided to be "an example" for women to get themselves checked for breast cancer.

Rancic also talked about what it was like just before she made the announcement on "Today."

"I was such a nervous wreck," she said. "I was shaking. Ann Curry gave me tissues right before we started. She said, 'just keep these under your dress just in case.'"
