New York Times:

A lethal and highly contagious marine virus has been detected for the first time in wild salmon in the Pacific Northwest, researchers in British Columbia said on Monday, stirring concern that it could spread there, as it has in Chile, Scotland and elsewhere.

They are now considering putting the first fish pens ( with Atlantic Salmon ) in the Strait of Juan De Fuca. My question is....shouldn't non- indigenous pathogens associated with non-indigenous species like the Atlantic Salmon being introduced into the environment also be covered under the Injurious Wildlife Provisions of the Lacy Act ( 18 U.S.C. 42;50cfr16 )

We were warned of the danger to the wild population as well as the polution from these unsanitary farms...now we are paying the consequences because once again PROFITS before ENVIROMENT was allowed

Those warnings were loud and numerous too! But in the end America decided to side with short term profit over long term health and viability, just as they always do. I call it Fred Flintstone Syndrome, always looking for the next get rich scheme, damn the consequences.
