Some there are so poor that we can't even imagine. In some part they eat mud cookies (see the tube for video) cookies made of nothing but dust. I am surprised at people who allow themselves to question this or any act of kindness.

What a wonderful gesture. It's heart-warming to see someone actually see a plan through and make sure everything that's needed is there. The sour grapes I'm seeing on this comment board must be coming from those who are bitter and need to volunteer at a homeless shelter this Thanksgiving. We can contribute to our own communities, and we can contribute to the planet. Children are children; women are women; men are men all over the world.

Haiti produces far more children than it needs---much less can afford. It's been a basket case for most of its 200 years of independence largely because of OVERPOPULATION, deforestation, and an UNWILLINGNESS to organize itself to use its natural resources optimally and sustainably.....

If it had a general WILL, this nation SHOULD adopt a mandated ONE-CHILD policy.....as well as ignore RC policies which interfere with 'family planning' and birth control.... In two generations, there is a chance that island life would improve.....

Helping anyone that needs help is a good thing. Why would you second guess someone else's charity? They aren't asking YOU to contribute.
Bravo for these bakers!!

I live close to Stow, and I know Rick. He's one of those lucky people who has found his bliss and absolutely loves what he does. Would Jesus say we should only help people in countries who can directly benefit the US? For those who say yes, then you should open a Golden Harvest franchise to feed the hungry in your community.

Very nice story. We in the US have little idea of what it really means to have nothing.

Especially in Ohio.
I agree, charity begins at home.

We don't really know he's not helping them, too, do we? Honest question -- I don't live near Ohio and have never seen anything else about him.

They do. If you look up the company, they do much locally as well.

It's too bad they couldn't help their fellow americans who need jobs. Americans who bought their bread. If they hate americans so much, maybe they should move to Haiti.
10:07 PM on 10/19/2011
What in this article indicates that they "hate" Americans? Please do not see helping one group as depriving another.

Haiti is not a friend or ally of the United States. It has never benefited the national interest of the US. Why would anyone help someone who refuses to help provide mutual support or benefit? In that respect, any aid to Haiti is a deficit, a loss to the US. Haiti is not beneficial but harmful to american interests.
