Arizona, UCLA Fight: Massive Brawl Breaks Out After Fan Impersonates Referee (VIDEO)

Arizona Ucla Fight

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 10/21/11 12:42 AM ET Updated: 12/20/11 05:12 AM ET

A massive, bench-clearing brawl broke out just before halftime of Thursday night's game between the University of Arizona and UCLA.

The events leading up to the fight though, were odd. It seems that with just two seconds left in the second quarter, a fan actually ran onto the field dressed as a referee, confusing many and delaying the game.

However, that was just enough time for UCLA and Arizona players to get in each other's faces and eventually break out into a massive fight. According to Larry Brown Sports, UCLA Bruins receiver Taylor Embree hit Arizona Wildcat Shaquille Richardson, who, in turn retaliated before the fight escalated.

Both players were ejected, but according to ESPN announcers the NCAA is sure to revisit the incident and may potentially hand out further disciplinary action.

Emotions were certainly running high between the two rivals, as Arizona led 42 to 7 after only two quarters. According to the AP, several players had to be restrained by referees and coaches.

Unfortunately, this was the highlight of the season for Wildcats fans. Should have canned Stoops incompetent, angry butt a long time ago.

the dude dressed as the ref was definatly an idiot

but the announcers blaming the fan for the fight is ridiculous.

If Jace Lankow didn't disrupt the game, then the play would've continued. It was a combination of the disruption of play while frustration was already building.

Here's the view from the StreakerCam. Yup, the kid took off the ref costume and got his Frank the Tank on. (Well, almost.) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g325BVLWm8U#!

They are charging the guy with FELONY impersonation of a referee. But the guy that hacked the SuperBowl and broadcasted 37 seconds of PORN got 3 years probation and $1000 fine and a misdemeanor.

One word; Steroids. All sports should have automatic testing for drugs after any kind of fight. Basketball, baseball, volleyball, football… Hell NASCAR too.

I love that he comes onto the field waving his arms just like the real sideline referee should have on a dead ball play.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty hilarious. The other refs actually walk over to discuss things with him, too. Of course, he darts before they call him on being a phony. Classic.

Oh man that was hysterical. I love how he tried getting in on the discussion of the penalty and just BOLTED. As someone who has been arrested for doing the same thing at an NFL game many years ago you can look forward to a night in the drunk tank, $5,000 in legal fees a class B misdemeanor(that stays on your record). If you streaked you'll be charged with public lewdness as well as trespassing for entering the field. My advice, don't do it even if you've had 15 beers and too many shots out of a bowling ball.
