Hugo

The Moviefone Blog:

It's not often you'd put silent film star Harold Lloyd in the same sentence as a children's movie, but that's what makes Martin Scorsese's upcoming 3D adventure 'Hugo' so special.

I'm still waiting to see Scorsese's George Harrison documentary. I'll probably see it next month.

Both salubrious and lugubrious concurrently.

The project looks like "Socrsese does Spielberg", which is dangerous assignment. Especially considering that even Spielberg has gotten pretty lousy at 'doing' Spielberg, himself. The mid-80s was a quarter centry ago. Wide-eyed suburban kids having adventures is so last century.

it may be good, the poster is cool, but it looks unwatchable and MS has made more bad movies than good ones

Looks like a decent movie though the 3D part is getting old real quick.

It sure is.

It got old real quick back in the '50s, too, when they first tried it. I'm not sure it will ever be fully embraced by audiences as long as funny-looking glasses are required.

But I would like to see what Scorsese can do with 3-D. I'm sure he's challenging himself to make the ultimate 3-D movie. And in preparation, he's probably screened every 3-D movie ever made -- especially Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder.
