Sarah Palin: Rick Perry Flat Tax Will 'Gain Momentum'

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 10/21/11 04:29 PM ET Updated: 12/21/11 05:12 AM ET

Sarah Palin praised Texas Gov. Rick Perry's flat tax plan Thursday evening in an interview on "The Sean Hannity Show" on Fox News.

"Rick Perry -- now coming out with, really embracing Steve Forbes' flat tax idea -- that's going to gain momentum. I look forward to hearing more of the details," she said. "In fact, when I heard that Rick Perry was embracing of Steve Forbes' idea, I went into my garage and dug out an old book from 1999 that Steve Forbes had written," she said. "Many aspects of it make so much sense," added the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee, who declined to run for president in 2012.

Perry said Wednesday that he would be unveiling a flat tax. "I want to make the tax code so simple that even Timothy Geithner can file his taxes on time," he quipped, referring to the Treasury secretary's failure to pay over $34,000 in taxes while working for the IMF, which was revealed during his Senate confirmation hearings. Perry will unveil specifics of his plan next week.

Palin also commented on another GOP candidate with a simple tax plan: Herman Cain. "Again whether you believe or can really embrace all of that 999 plan, at least he has got the ball rolling, saying we must reform our tax code today because it is a monstrosity," she said, referring to the former Godfather's Pizza CEO's plan to have a nine percent corporate income tax, nine percent personal income tax and a nine percent national sales tax. "Well, definitely I would tweak it -- because I believe that in order to get rid of crony capitalism and corporate welfare and the corruption and waste in the federal government, we need to get rid of the corporate income tax which chases jobs overseas," she said.

Palin again praised former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for his debate performance. "Well you know, Newt has been in the trenches; he seems to have seen it all, and his calm, cool, collected demeanor I think bodes well for these debates."

This woman is just a waste. I personnally don't care about changing the tax code and i'm sure the nearly 11% of our country thats unemployed don't care either. Stgart talking about what the people really care about. JOBS..... And hopefully we will make a few congressmen unemployed soon too.

Oh, by all mean this plan is it! Sarah said so it must be true! But wait, she like the 999 plan too! I am so confused....

One point that jumped out to me was if she is enamored so much with Steve Forbes's book what was it doing in the garage where she had to dig it out! Seems to me a book that you love so much would be in the house where it can be read and referred to because of all the sense you say it makes, especially if you are considering running for president. Then of course, that would require reading and we already know where you stand on that!

She also praised Herman Cain's 999 foolishness. Why is she still talking, better yet why is anyone still listening...?????

Here's the deal. If what Sarah Palin and all the other paid shills for the GOP say is correct it is not government's responsibility to create jobs. Corporations exist to make a profit and not to create jobs. Americans are hard working and industrious and there is no excuse for not having a job or becoming rich because the opportunity is there for everyone. So with this logic we ought to be able to stick it to the corporations, make them pay mor taxes, even run them out of the country and we will still be ok. Other people will form corporations. American ingenuity will take over and we will survive. That is Republican logic. That's why I support OWS.

really, sarah reading a book? A book other than a dime store love story? Aren't the words too big for her?

so that's where she keeps her books, in the garage! She had to have her daughter read it to her and explain it as simply as only a child can. I think that when sarah was a baby her parents dropped her and she landed on her head. She liked it so much they did it again.

This irrelevant story has been up here for 4 days now. Really HP it's time to put this puppy to rest.
How about replacing it with the information about Senator DeMint's latest stunt on shutting down Free Speech between doctors and their females patients discussing abortion over the Internet?
Now THAT is relevant.
