Animal Photos Of The Week

Animal Photos Of The Week

In animal news this week, a number of interesting reports surfaced. It turns out that some fish use flatulence to communicate underwater. We also learned that even the most innocuous animals can seem scary to some. As a result of childhood trauma, an adult man is terrified of pit bull puppies.

This week also saw some heartwarming rescues. A firefighter in Wisconsin performed "mouth-to-snout" resuscitation on a family dog that was trapped in a house fire. Kind-hearted knitters made tiny sweaters for penguins in New Zealand who were affected by the country's ongoing oil spill. Another cute animal video surfaced, this one of a cat that carries the groceries.

Sadly, animals also made the news this week due to a horrific event. A man in Ohio who owned an exotic animal farm set many of his animals free before taking his own life. Lions, tigers, monkeys, bears and other exotic and dangerous creatures were seen roaming Ohio countryside this week. Police and wildlife officials had to kill nearly 50 of the animals, including 18 endangered bengal tigers.

It was also revealed this week that officials in Puerto Rico have removed or euthanized over 1,400 wild monkeys that are descendants of escaped research animals on the Caribbean island.
