Coldplay's Chris Martin Reveals Boy Band Take That Made Him Question His Sexuality, Wonder If He Was Gay When He Was A Kid

Last night at the Q Awards in London, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin presented Gary Barlow with a trophy for songwriting.

Unwilling to squander the opportunity to celebrate Barlow in his own special way, Martin revealed that English boy band Take That -- which Barlow is a member of -- made him momentarily question his sexuality when he was growing up.

Martin said that when he was younger his two favorite bands were "U2 and five handsome, strapping men from Stoke and Manchester. I'm not afraid to admit it, they made me ask the question 'Am I gay?'"

The Sun reports that at the after party, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr responded to Martin's confession by joking, "I have the answer for you -- you are gay."

Coldplay received the award for "Best Band in the World" at last night's ceremony. Their new album, Mylo Xyloto, landed in stores yesterday.

In the music business it's not who is gay, it's who is straight? My years growing up in Hollywood made me come to the conclusion that most rock musicians are at the very least bisexual.
I can't tell you how many famous rock stars came on to me, or was it that I was just too lovely to pass up? I can say this now since I am not so lovely and a bit older and wiser. And no I won't say who they were. I am not a tattle tale. I remember that "Love the one your with" was almost a doctrine and anthem back then.

I think everyone questions their sexuality at some point. The mind is very complex and usually when someone is making fun of something they are not understanding the meaning. People by nature hide what they feel guilty about. My answer is who cares, maybe people should worry less about other people in a negative way. I read this and thought "ok, so what" I mean he has a kid and married. Even if he is gay or bi what does it matter, how does he affect my life really. If he was my friend I would be like "well that's your way of standing up and showing people that it's normal to feel that way when trying to find your way." A lot of people are very much stuck in a bubble and can't accept themselves. They make fun of other people because they are weak and question themselves but have no confidence. People with no confidence latch on to people with confidence so they can feed off of that and demean other people they don't understand. If you are gay, straight, alien...WHO CARES! Maybe when we get over all this he said she said non sense we can evolve as a civilization.
