B-2 Stealth Bomber And Other Aircraft Mistaken For UFOs

B2 Bomber

People in Missouri have been scratching their heads this month over a rash of UFO sightings that has them wondering if it's alien visitors, small plane experimental flying teams, the B-2 stealth bomber or all of the above.

So far, eyewitnesses in the "Show Me" state have been entertained by aerial displays of lights or orbs in the night sky, with the majority of sightings centered around the Kansas City area.

"With all the sightings, we've had a description of a triangle-shaped craft with multicolored lights surrounding it," said Debbie Ziegelmeyer, state director for Missouri MUFON, a chapter of the International Mutual UFO Network.

"We have information that the nearby Whiteman Air Force Base, 50 miles east of Kansas City, is under a yellow alert with training mission activities of the B-2 stealth bombers around the area."

But, according to Ziegelmeyer, it wasn't just the B-2 craft that may be responsible for many of the nearly 60 UFO sightings since the beginning of the month.

"We learned about an EAA flight team (Experimental Aircraft Association), based in Lee's Summit, Mo., that was doing some stunt flying on Oct. 4," Ziegelmeyer told The Huffington Post.

"They practiced for an audition to do a night aerial formation flight for the Kansas City Chiefs. Their team leader told me it was a group of six small planes that fly in groups, and they flew together in a delta or triangular formation, circling over Lee's Summit before heading to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, where they circled the stadium and then returned to the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport."

ARE THESE AERIAL LIGHTS CAUSED BY A SPECIAL STUNT FLYING TEAM OVER MISSOURI?:

"If you look at the first 12 seconds [of the video], you can see them aligned with another smaller dot in the sky," Ziegelmeyer said. "Around half way through the video, the lights try to group up and you can make out a light strobing effect on one of them as they're turning.

"Then, near the end of the video, they start to form a triangle-shape formation."

Over in Independence, Mo., MUFON assistant state director Margie Kay is busy trying to unravel the mystery of several UFO reports that don't appear to be either the stealth bomber or a squadron of stunt flyers.

One video, taken from inside a car, appears to show two glowing spheres or orbs chasing each other around in the night sky.

"The strangest thing about this and other events that happened over several days are these spheres, some of which were reported very close to people -- as close as 30 feet away and in or behind their backyards," Kay told HuffPost. "We don't have an explanation for it yet."

WATCH THESE TWO UFOS PLAY TAG OVER MISSOURI ON OCT. 8, 2011:

When the Missouri UFO reports started coming in, Kay contacted Whiteman Air Force Base.

"They can't tell us very much, but they did say that they're running B-2 training missions during October. So we think that some of the sightings that were from a distance may have been this," Kay explained.

She added that they're most interested in investigating the still-unexplained sightings, like the one of a large craft reported hovering 30 feet above a water tower in Raytown, Mo., on Oct. 4.

"It was round in shape with lights all over the entire bottom of it, and then it raised up a little bit, turned 90 degrees on its side, flew for a little while and then shot off at what the witness said was light speed -- it was instantly gone.

"There may be some experimental aircraft that can do this, but we're not being told about it. For them to do this in a metropolitan area is a little odd."

Clifford W. Clift Jr., MUFON's international director, told HuffPost he was surprised when their typical national monthly average of 500 UFO reports jumped to over 1,000 in August.

"We found there was no computer problem or duplication of reports. Then we discovered that over 50 percent of the number over the 500 average were old cases from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s."

MUFON tried to evaluate why people were now reporting old cases and, according to Clift, "This past summer and into the fall, there were so many UFO documentary shows being run that included MUFON's name that people finally learned where they could report a UFO event.

"I think that's why we've had such a significant increase."

And as we've seen in Missouri, a variety of things could account for UFO sightings. The only thing left to say about that is "Show me!"

IT'S NOT HARD TO IMAGINE WHY THE B-2 BOMBER IS OFTEN MISTAKEN FOR A UFO:

In 1983 I stood near a triangular object as it sat motionless in a horizontal position over the ground. Due to its horizontal position, it was obvious to see that it had no visable means of thrust because the ground below it had no signs of disturbance. The object was larger than a football field, however the wings and tail had no similarities to the Stealth bomber or fighter. This event took place less then (2) miles from Maguire Air Force Base in New Jersey. This base, along with Ft. Dix and Lakehurst Navel Warfare Center have been merged to become the world's first "Super Base". These bases are located within the New Jersey Pinelands which encompass millions of acres of pines along the Eastern Seaboard. Most likely, this area is the real Area 51, as it is comprised entirely of flat land and it is impossible to spy into. There are also numerous motion and listening devices throughout the pines on posted military property. If, this technology is ours., then the problem of our dependance on fossil fuels is over. If it isn't our world's creation, then I would say with scientific certainty that the human race is in deep trouble.

The government has craft that use anti-gravity/electro-gravitic propulsion systems, OR aliens are visiting our planet at will and often. There are really no other choices: Silent craft that move at crawl speeds or hover, and which often make abrupt stops and turns that would defy the law of inertia if operating under " normal " physical limittaions have been documented too many times and by too many reliable people...and photographed, to blithely dismiss the sightings as a military plane of any type that uses jet engines and is bound by the limitations of craft that rely on air density for staying aloft.

UFO's of any origine that exhibit anomalous characteristics operate in an envelope of gravitational neutrality and the laws of physics we operate in do not apply. How smug we humans often are!! Only out of the agricultural era a hundreds years, with 90% of the worlds population still stuck in past centuries in many ways, and yet we assume that we know what the " laws " of the universe are and that they cannot be superceded or found to be an elementary truth not indicative of the whole picture.

Bobby Ray Inman slipped up and admitted that such technologies are in military/intel use and were reverse engineered from a crashed UFO. It is no longer a case of proof, but of personal ability to accept new paradigms without fear...fear feeds denial, and denial is a killer in all disciplines.

I'd buy one of those quad copter RC kits but I'm afraid it would get tagged as a UFO now so...bhah.

B-2's can hover?..and do training missions over American cities?

No. Only helos and the V-22 can hover. And yes, routine training missions using electronic "bomb drops" coupled with GPS are flown all over the US, at medium-to-high-altitudes performing practice bombing missions, against cities, and other "targets" all the time. It's a routine that dates back to the late 40's. It's not a dangerous occupation as such, and you have a better chance of being hit by a comet. (Not a Mercury Comet, either.)

I work for NASA etc etc .... Believe me people it's not UFO's....
11:31 AM on 10/27/2011
Ever hear of Jaques Vallee? He worked for NASA as well, and he disagrees. And he was highly placed...what do you do for NASA? How would YOU know the most secret stuff? Also, NASA and Malin are totally involved in coverups and have been for a long time. NASA is a military entity and black projects never are revealed to those outside the need to know loop...unless you are very highly placed, which I doubt, you have no right to make sweeeping claims.

It is akin to a dispatcher at the police station claiming the cop brutaility doesn't happen...if you are not privvy to ALL the systems and black projects you have to right to make such a claim.

I don't mean to be putting you down or anything but isn't what you are stating a sweeping claim? There is no more evidence to support what you are saying then what slowneasy is saying. Now am I saying your wrong? no. Am I saying your right No. But until physical evidence can be produced that is indisputable then its just one mans word against another. but personally i kinda hope your right cause that would mean aliens are real and that would be awesome haha. but thats just my opinion

Well, scientist from the planet earth are eagerly awaiting the technological advances which will permit humans to travel light-years across vast interstellar distances expending billions upon billions of dollars in order to discover alien life-forms so that they can be anally probed ....

This is probably as good a time as any to mention that just ONE light-year equals 5.865696 X 10^12 miles. The sheer scale of interstellar distances poses a huge challenge to any "ET" explanation for UFO sightings.

Five lights moving slowly and independently, in different directions, and stoping in formation in the sky is not something that the B2 bomber is cappable of.

PROOF THERES INTELLIGENT LIFE OUT THERE! They haven't made contact with us.

I went to college in Warrensburg, MO and lived in Lee's Summit for 2 years which is near Whiteman AFB and the B2's were always flying overhead. I always thought it was neat to see them in the sky.

When I lived in Hawaii some friends and I went up to the pool (on the roof of the high rise) during RIMPAC excercises. A stealth flew overhead at 1000 feet. If you didn't know there were war games going on it would have scared the daylights out of us! We all had cameras and the photos are amazing. We all took photos lying on our backs and one of my photos is all black! It was that close.

The main reason the aliens don't want to show themselves when they fly around, is that they don't want to have to start bowing to the TSA and going through all of those lines to board their flights.

could you imagine the backlash from human-alien searches.....not even going to talk about different sexes. Nightmare.

Ah, I'm starting to get it. The TSA have become the aliens.

If you don't know what it is--then it IS a UFO by definition. People see UFO's all the time.
