Occupy Wall Street Gets New App To Alert Friends Of Arrest

NEW YORK -- Occupy Wall Street protesters now have a free app to alert others if they're about to be arrested.

Van Anden is working to make it available on iPhone.

Here's how it works: Users write a text message in advance and program a list of recipients. As they're about to be arrested, users can hit one button and alert everyone on their list.

As of Monday morning, 9,000 had installed it. Van Anden says he doesn't know if anyone used it because he installed privacy controls.

I love Occupy Wall Street. If they never are able to reduce the insanity that has gripped the United States of America they have still given me hope! I hope that the balance will become a little bit more restored. I'm sorry wealthy people, but you have tooooo much influence in our politics. thanks to the internet, etc., we the people are more able to make our voices heard. You need to relinquish absolute financial sway over our elected officials and their workers/helpers. This is a Democracy not a Capitalocracy. OUR Government is meant to reign in Corporate/Business greed. I understand greed, I have a small business and their are times when I dream of thousands of clients when I only need 100. We have to treat our neighbor as we want to be treated

Protesters should make sure they wear a scarf or bandana that can be pulled up to cover their face in case of a mace attack, and a bottle of water to rinse the face and eyes.
