Murdoch's Mom's Special Treat Among Son's Scandal

Though Rupert Murdoch may find himself at the heart of scandal for phone hacking allegations that ruffled the rich and famous, his unstoppable mother seems to be in the good graces of the upwardly mobile.

The 102-year-old Dame Elisabeth Murdoch greeted The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on Tuesday during the duo's 10-day trip to Australia.

Queen Elizabeth II and Price Phillip visited the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia to officially open its new facilities. Murdoch was present at the ceremony and laughed with The Queen as they briefly chatted. Murdoch who was in a wheelchair, was also in attendance when the Queen first opened the Royal Children's Hopsital in 1963.

Murdoch is one of Australia's most beloved philanthropists. She also openly told author Julie Browning, who was writing a book about the Murdoch family at the time, that Rupert's decision to purchase News of the World "killed her."
