Simone Battle, Eliminated 'X Factor' Contestant, Releases Gay-Themed 'He Likes Boys' Music Video

First Posted: 10/26/11 12:55 PM ET Updated: 10/26/11 01:40 PM ET

Last night on "X Factor," Simone Battle was one of the reality music competition's first casualties as the judges cut 17 acts down to 12.

After being harshly criticized for her performance of Mariah Carey's "Just Be Good To Me," -- LA Reid told Simon Cowell, Battle's mentor, "Everything was right except your choice in contestant," and Nicole Scherzinger rolled her eyes as she commented, "That wasn't predictable at all..." -- Battle was eliminated.

But that doesn't mean the singer is down for the count. Battle released her first single, "He Likes Boys," last night, announcing the song's release before she'd even left the "X Factor" stage.

The video for the song finds Battle lamenting her bad luck for falling in love with gay men. "My gaydar needs some inspection," she sings while trying to get the attention of several well-manicured men, including one who acts out a classic scene from teen comedy "Clueless" with her.

However, by the end of the video Battle has found her thing for guys who will never love her back holds a silver lining: Really great best friends. "We both like vintage shopping," she sings, adding, "And we both like... boys."

For more on Battle, check out her Facebook page -- where she notes "If a Cheerleader, a Hipster, and a Drag Queen had a Threesome, I would be their love child" -- here.

Music has been so pathetic over the last 10 years. This is terrible.

I'm surprised I actually liked that video. Catchy song. I can see her as a Katy Perry type. This probably won't be the last we see of her.

Well, we are not in Kansas anymore, that's for sure! I think this is really cute song with a great hook. Even if it doesn't get any radio play I think it will still be a hot. Plus, this girl is such a breath of fresh air from these overwrought, over the top, should get over themselves pop divas taking up so much air and media space. I wish her well.

I liked it. We've come a long way since "Johnny Are You Queer?" was a hit in the early 80's.

after getting lost in the slideshow I kind of wonder how you missed kylie's all the lovers, goldfrapp's alive and everything else done by the smiths and pet shop boys, erasure, culture club, blow monkeys, billy mckenzie, etc, etc, etc. katy perry? please.

I liked it; and I liked her. Who cares if she's not the greatest singer? You really don't need to be a great singer to be a hit anymore: Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears...on and on...

i think its because she is dark skinned she is supposed to be r&b -- thank god she isn't trying to be Whitney like everyone else -- love her all the more. welcome to the future, its different than the past.

First of all, "Just Be Good To Me" is not a Mariah Carey song. This song is by The SOS Band. Ms. Carey covered it. And Simone did a very good job. Those judges are jealous.

the judges wanted "soulful" "r&b" aka stereotypically black. she isn't. i hope she has a long career.

Love Simone! She is what the show needed if they were looking for a relevant pop star. This song could be a hit if marketed my a label. The video is great too. Love the Clueless reference!

x factor will be just as lame as that other simon cowell show -- its more about him and finding medicority than finding talent.

She's a cute/adorable girl but singing is not her strong point. I was mad she made it to the live show & so relieved when Simon brought back the other girl. It's sad that cuteness can get you far sometimes over real talent.

I agree. She should have never made it as far as she did. There was better talent than her.
