Kate Middleton Scar: It's Not Hair Extensions (PHOTOS)

Remember when we noted Kate's unusually swept-up hair from last night? Seems like there might be a reason that the Duchess usually wears her gorgeous brown hair down -- there's something she's covering up.

Several savvy beauty editors got excited this morning by the sight of Kate sporting what looked like hair extensions. When zooming in on a side-angle photo of the royal, one sees a thin, curved white mark at the roots of her hair. "Extensions!" The Girls In The Beauty Department cried.

But Catherine is famous for her luscious locks, so it seems unlikely that she'd need them enhanced with fakes. Turns out the little white mark over Kate's left ear was not glued-in tresses but rather a scar.

A spokesperson for the Duchess released a statement, printed by the Daily Mail, that the scar is "related to a childhood operation," with senior royal sources adding that it had been "a very serious operation."

Well we're glad it's a thing of the past -- and that she's got a great head of hair to keep it out of sight, out of mind. Besides the hair, Kate shined in a vintage Amanda Wakeley gown at last night's event, which was her very first solo appearance as a royal.

Honestly, I dont care if the Duchess wears extensions.....she looks to be a charming and beautiful young woman. If its a scar,which seems unlikely as the end is lifting off the skin......it doesnt matter either! Hasnt the media learned their lesson with Diana's death? Leave the poor lass alone!!!!

When I was 8 I was dragged by a horse for a few miles. My helmet protected me to a point, when my foot finally came out of the boot, I hit the ground. When I finally landed All of the ribs on my right side were broken, my ankle was destroyed and I had a large cut just about where Kate's scar is from the horse's back hooves kicking as it ran. The scar is still visible and looks exactly like the one Kate has. It would be funny if it was not so pathetic, do all the old biddies of the world who should just have a stiff eight inches, put their magnifying glass down and have another 2 inches of scotch. Much better for one's health don't you think ?

I have this same exact scar in the same exact place. In my 30's I had a brow lift. I had another one last year...She does have a lovely arch to her brow!

One poster said look carefully and you can see the hair pulled through little holes. I enlarged the picture and they are correct. That is not a scar. I don't really care one way or the other...she is still very pretty and looks great.

You can see the little holes for the hair extensions - look very closely & you can see the hair pulled through. None of our business though.

There's no way that's a scar!! Hair extensions - take it from a beautician who does them.......She still is gorgeous even with them. mmmm....wonder how long her actual hair is or maybe it's thin/fine
