I was tempted to go to a haunted house for halloween but i noticed that doing that is against ny beliefs even though it doesnt say anything about it in the bible i just think those are godly places to go , i dont even celebrate halloween i havent celebrated it since i was about 12 and plus i know halloween came from a pagan holiday .I do like watching ghost hunters with kris williams but so far i havent seened too many interesting things but that was one of my favorite shows if he you really want to see scary try visiting the places they go

Just an FYI... Cutting Edge is in Fort Worth and always has been. As a Fort Worth native I hate when people or groups ignore the fact that Dallas and Fort Worth aren't the same place. Please give Fort Worth it's credit and change the location of Cutting Edge in your article, thanks.

They might be confused by the name of Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport, and think the two cities are one.

Scratching my head, why are so many consumed by death, murder, ghost, blood and guts, evil and so on? I don't care and it doesn't effect me one way or another but I have seen so much of the real deal, making more up and having a party just seems? I have watched the so called scariest movies and I find myself laughing about how fake they are and falling asleep.

Here's an idea. Understand that you don't exist in a bubble and MANY people aren't doctors, EMTs, fire fighters, soldiers and police officers etc etc who see a violence and blood and real guts on a day to day basis. MOST people have boring simplistic jobs and live in boring simplistic places and once a year like to scare themselves by immersing themselves in a false world for a few hours instead of actually seeing a real person get disemboweled, which would be a bit... traumatic. You know it's fake so you can suspend your disbelief for a short period of time and then go home and watch Dance with the stars. That's the beauty of both movies and attractions like this.

I can also tell you, you're 1 of a kind dude. I've got a friend whose an undertaker, another who works in a morgue, another studying to be a ME and another who literally is part of a dead body cleanup team in philadelphia and they LOVE all things macabre. It's a part of their life and they love the fake scares BECAUSE it's not as morbid as their real lives.

Well if this is a bubble I am living in after watching a close friend blow his brains out, pulling down a neighbor from hanging himself, watching a motorcycle and a car come crashing down from the overpass your under while the car drivers head gets sheered off and roles up to your door, watching another friend cross an intersection on his bike get ran over by a truck and you lay beside him under the truck while he dies in your arms! Maybe you should come check out this bubble because I would bet you wouldn't find making up this kind of tragedy fun or funny at all, I am so thankful for those men and women who deal with this on a daily basis and also know several who do, most agree with me and don't go looking for make believe horror to celebrate.

LOL, I got on that when I was 8 or 9 years old and wasn't scared in the slightest. It just goes up... then down.

You missed a really great venue in Hawaii! The Polynesian Cultural Center does a Haunted Lagoon where visitors ride through in boats in a dark, fog filled story of the dead. 200 cast members dressed to scare, jumping in and out of water and grabbing passengers in the boats. Highly recommend this yearly adventure on the island of Oahu.

BOOOO
The haunted houses have come a L O N G way since I was a kid. In fact I enjoy going to them more now that I did when I was kid. Living here in the southeast, we have some that are both inside and outside, which makes it really cool!
Halloween what a cool holiday!!

I'm surprised the Stanley Hotel (The Shinning) wasn't mentioned. Room 217 is booked at least a year in advance.
09:30 AM on 11/01/2011
The real Stanley Hotel is a REAL haunted place, this list are full of fake haunts created with movie effects etc. The two don't belong on the same list. Thats all

Why would they not mention Universals Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights, by far the best event in the country?

"the planet closed years ago." (#2) News to me. I'm still here.
07:34 AM on 10/31/2011
But wait - there's more!

“It's a mega haunted house offering one of the most detailed and terrifying haunted houses in America.†A haunted house offering a haunted house? Wow! How innovative!

“The Dent Schoolhouse was actually a school that opened in 1894 and has a grizzly past.†Really? They taught bear cubs there?

Honestly, how do they find the illiterates who come up with these inept captions? There are plenty of underemployed writers out here who actually can use the English language.

The sad thing is that most people never notice these mistakes or have no problem with them. I am an avid reader and have noticed so many mistakes in books over the last 20 years. I guess publishing companies no longer hire proof readers? My big pet peeve? One author I read a lot seems to have a lot of marriages in her books. It never fails, when the judge, preacher etc performs the ceremony he says " By the powers invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife". Makes me want to scream!!!

i have never understood the enjoyment of being frightened. i don't like the feeling of being spooked: that tightness in your chest, shortness of breath...ugh.

i assume that people who like being frightened don't have enough anxiety in their life already.

that said, i love haunted houses and stuff like this, BECAUSE it's creative and meant to be fun. people that are into it, really make a lot of effort to provide detail and realism. i think the people who create these places deserve a lot of credit, and i hope plenty of people go out and enjoy themselves this weekend.

but i'll stick to costume parties and trick-or-treating. =D

Fake haunted houses and the like do not scare me since I know everything in them is fake. Come to think of it, real haunted houses don't scare me either because I am much more afraid of the living than I am the dead. Happy Halloween!

i gotta hand it to you, Annette, i am absolutely terrified at the thought of going through anything remotely scary! heck, i cannot even glance at a cemetary while driving by one. i am a major "fraidy cat" when it comes to the macabre. interestingly enough, i am pretty much fearless most of the time. go figure. i used to work at the hospital where Poe died in Baltlimore. of course, the hospital had been renovated, expanded etc. the exact spot where Poe died was at the time i worked there, a stairwell. there was a plaque stating that this was the spot where he met his demise. needless to say, i *never* took that particular stairwell. also, his grave at Westminster Hall, was right across the street from another hospital i worked at. believe me, i gave that place a wide berth while passing by. i know, i am just plain weird. :)

Phoebe, being a little scared is what it is all about!
If you would go thru one with your boyfriend/husband and he wasn't the type to make it worse for you, I think you would see the fun in them. Also the creativity that is used in some these setting is as good as Hollywood stuff!!!
