'History Of Rap 3' With Justin Timberlake And Jimmy Fallon (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/29/11 02:40 PM ET Updated: 10/29/11 02:41 PM ET

From the moment Justin Timberlake was announced as the guest on Friday's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," we knew what to expect: Another song-and-dance duet chronicling hip hop. And before Fallon even interviews JT, they jump right into "History of Rap Part 3."

Do Timberlake and Fallon deliver yet again? You bet. Throughout the nearly five minute medley, they sample both new school and old school tracks from OutKast, The Fugees, Snoop Dogg, The Beastie Boys, Kanye West, House of Pain, Coolio, Ice Cube, Young MC, Naughty By Nature and several others. (They even manage to throw in some Fresh Prince and Sir Mix-A-Lot, because why not?) They're backed up by The Roots, because not only are they Fallon's house band, but because literally no other band on the planet could pull this off.

Be sure to watch this video quickly, because NBC has taken down both of the first two History of Raps, probably due to royalty rights of the songs sampled.

Yep, that sure was a bunch of lyrics from a bunch of rap songs sung by a couple of white guys. They sure worked really hard on it, reminded me of a fraternity doing some sort of "show" at a rush event or something.

I was watching Jimmy friday night and this was hysterical. If anyone saw the interview you would also know this is the end. They said they were just doing a trilogy. Too bad the interview isn't posted because it had to be the funniest interview I've ever seen. It was like watching an SNL skit. Go to Fallon's website and watch it if it's posted. You won't be disappointed.

That was pretty hysterical. Glad that is a skit and they were not being serious but it is getting kind of old.

I'm not trying to be a hater here -- and I'm a fan of Fallon's show in general -- but these segments infuriate me. What's the appeal? I love hip hop, but two white guys perform karaoke versions of hip hop classics has ZERO appeal to me. Although I don't know either of their backgrounds well enough to say for certain, I'm fairly certain neither Fallon or Timberlake really have a TRUE hip hop head's knowledge of music. So why are they performing songs they probably hadn't even heard 5 years ago? What's most appalling to me is that you have Black Thought, a true emcee, to the side of the stage not participating. While I'm sure the teenyboppers who make up a sizable chunk of the late night audience enjoy Fallon and Pop Star Timberlake acting out hip hop braggadocio, it really would be a LOT LOT LOT better were Black Thought and The Roots get an opportunity to school viewers on classic hip hop tracks. Certainly they're connected enough that they could get a number of great emcees to perform with them. No one needs Justin Timberlake trying to prove how "down" he is. He had his ghetto pass revoked years ago.

Loved it more than History of Rap 2, but not as much as the first. A huge amount of credit has to go to ?west Love (drummer) and the rest of the Roots, who are the ones coming up with the mix.

This was absolutely great. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake are really great together. I was bobbing my head, smiling and dancing in my chair.

Hats off to another outstanding collaboration.
