It could be worse... You could be South Africa where you have LGBT equality on paper but the reality is far different...

You have same-sex marriage and anti-discrimination laws while gays and lesbians are being raped and murdered in the streets by the dozens (maybe even hundreds to thousands)... So yeah talk about Africa's "Democratic success" when it's really not...

Start with Uganda.

Thanks in no small part to 'The Family' alleged christian group from the states, Uganda will be enacting a 'kill the gays' law.

For a most revealing look at that horrid place, check out the documentary 'The Worlds Worst Place To Be Gay'....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9DsawSC3cE

Good for David Cameron. It's nice to see true moral leadership for a change.

The silly conservatives in this country could learn ALLOT from David Cameron. But they will never listen to anything that contradicts their own self-righteous bigotry and misinterpretation of the Bible.

Thankyou Prime Minister...IF only the United States would follow suit and "put it's money where it's mouth is" regarding freedom and civil rights!

The US is interested in making sure other countries give civil rights, while they deny them to its own citizens.

I agree......we are condescending to other countries about civil rights but deny those same rights here at home; we are losing credibility on the world stage.

Listen up Mr. President... it's a matter of human rights... and thank you Prime Minister!!!!!!

Considering that the countries that really persecuted gays over the past 100 years were communist countries and Muslim fundamentalist countries (homosexuality is still punishable by death in North Korea and Iran), it seems like we should really have an incentive to legalize same-sex marriage.

Oh, wait. We still have millions of people who would love to see the US become a Christian version of Iran, so we're doomed to stay backwards.

Forgive me if I don't share your pessimism. Yes, the U.S. is very backward on this particular civil rights issue. But the average age of homophobes and gay haters is rising. Clearly, public awareness, understanding and tjolerance of LGBT issues is rising and public opinion polls increasingly reflect that. It's not happening as fast as many of us would like, but it IS happening. I would say that gay equality in the U.S. is far from "doomed." The war for acceptance is not over, but gay and gay supportive people are winning, if for no other reason than their ranks will outlive the haters.

Normally, I would not approve of something being "uncut", but in this case, I say, "Mr. Cameron, cut away!"
