One of the oldest holidays in the world, Halloween "is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts," according to History.com. However, not all countries celebrate All Hallows' Eve to the same degree or with exactly the same traditions.
