Justin Bieber Breaks YouTube Record: 9 Biggest YouTube Stars

Justin Bieber has become the first person in history to get 2 billion views on YouTube according to social media monitoring company Famecount.At the time of this writing, Bieber's Vevo-hosted content, which is also an official channel on YouTube, had racked up over 5 million additional views since passing the milestone sometime over the weekend.

It seems only fair that Bieber should be the one to break this record, since his career may never have been possible without YouTube. According to a Billboard profile, the Canadian teen began posting videos of himself singing cover songs at age 12. The videos were discovered by a talent scout, Bieber was signed to Usher's record label, and four years later he's so famous that a lock from his formerly floppy hair sold for over $40,000 on eBay earlier this year.

YouTube has long relied on user-generated content, like that of the young Bieber, but that may be changing. On Friday, Google's video site announced that they would be adding 100 new video channels with original content paid for by YouTube. Celebrities who are already signed on to make videos include Madonna, Amy Poehler, Shaquille O'Neal and Deepak Chopra.

Misleading headline, these aren't Youtube stars. These are celebrities with official youtube pages, set up by someone else.

There may be an awakening coming for the trendy pop stars. When I compare the pop stars and pop divas music with the OWS protestors I see a wide divide, on one side the trendy phony self centered, waaaaay over paid, manufactured, corporate, music I am supposed to like; on the other a more honest music. I would hope this connects with my post-bands music revolution ideas that includes music from every corner of the world. The days of this generic rock/country/rap/pop may be coming to an end with a new era of music just about here.

When I was kid, I used to listen to what I was fed cause I didn't know better. Really talented artists would break through, sometimes. The kids these days are consuming vomit, and they don't know it.

It's all abotu what peopel will pay money for. As long as the performers understand that they are a product I don't care. it's when they complain that they aren't being treated as artists that I really start to get riled up.
