Photo Memories From "That Girl"

"That Girl" was a true original when it made its debut in 1966 -- a single woman on her own was unheard of on TV at the time. Here are some of my favorite moments from the series -- Enjoy! --MT

Remember this shot from the opening credits of "That Girl"? It's the moment Ann Marie sees herself wearing a beautiful gown in a Bergdorf Goodman window. This photo -- and that white hat -- became symbolic of That Girl. (It's a little grainy, since it's a screen shot.)

Marlo, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your Christmas memories and the pictures of your father. Mr. Thomas enlightened the hearts of so mnay of us growing up through his television shows. Danny Thomas like yourself provided us with the truest sense of pure entertainment that you rarely see anymore these days on television. You made a statement in your Christmas Memories where you were talking about how you wondered how you got your family together for Christmas at your home and six weeks later your father died of whom we all truly miss. I know how! God spoke to your heart!!

Oh, how I had mad crushes back in the day on both MT and MTM. Still do, as a matter of fact.

One scene from That Girl that still sticks out in my mind is when Ann's agent suggested she change her stage name to "Marie Brewster". Donald thought it was a good idea, but Ann's father went crazy. Donald tried to talk to him, and I can still picture him saying to Ann, "How do you like the name Hollinger Toledo? Because my last name is Hollinger and I was born in Toledo." Funny stuff!
