Hollywood Metro Stabbing On The Red Line: Clown Came To The Aid Of Victims

Hollywood Metro Stabbing

Posted: 11/01/11 03:59 PM ET

A couple was stabbed early Tuesday morning on the mezzanine level of the Hollywood/Western Metro stop, which prompted investigators to shut down the station during the early morning commute, reports the Los Angeles Times. The station re-opened shortly after 8am.

Captain Mike Parker with the Los Angeles sheriff's department told the Huffington Post that the couple, a man and a woman, appeared to be arguing when another person stepped in and stabbed both of them at approximately 4:30am.

Parker confirmed with the Huffington Post that investigators are searching though closed circuit television footage of the scene. Authorities have not yet given word about whether they will release a still of the suspect from the video.

"We do highly recommend that the suspect turn himself in," said Parker. Authorities describe the suspect as a 25 year-old African-American man, about 6 foot tall and 200 lbs. Witnesses say he was also wearing blue. As of this writing, he is still at large.

Investigators from the Los Angeles County sheriff's department are interviewing several eye witnesses, including a man dressed as a clown for Halloween who came to the couple's aid after the stabbing, according to KTLA.

Metro spokesperson Marc Littman took pains to emphasize to the Huffington Post that violent crimes on Metro buses and trains are extremely rare, despite this morning's crime and two other stabbings (red line and gold line) that took place in August of this year.

"It may have spilled over from activity in the wake of Halloween. We don't know for sure," Littman said, possibly in reference to the 39 revelers who were arrested for brawling on Hollywood Boulevard.

Story is developing...

It's hard to imagine what could possibly be scarier than a HALLOWEEN CLOWN in the metro station at 4:30am, but there really was something scarier.

Remember what mom said, "nothing good happens after midnight", and it'll serve you well.

Not to be insensitive, but arguing on a subway platform at 430 am, and especially at Hollywood/Western on Halloween, is inviting danger. Always pay attention to your surroundings when traveling, is a good rule of thumb.
