A family of three was hit by a car yesterday while taking their 4-year-old daughter trick-or-treating in Colorado Springs.

Samuel Kinkennon, 30, and his wife Kelly, 31, were pulling their daughter in a wagon while crossing Academy Boulevard on their way to the child's grandparents' house when they were hit by 22-year-old Shynesia Harris. As of Monday evening, Harris had not been issued a ticket even though she allegedly hit them in the crosswalk, according to a report by the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Police say the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when it was still light out and in an area where the pedestrians have the right of way. Both parents were taken to Penrose Hospital with serious injuries, but were released Tuesday morning. Their injuries included a broken leg and head injury. Their daughter, who had been dressed as a princess for Halloween, suffered minor injuries.

"Police say the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when it was still light out and in an area where the pedestrians have the right of way." ~~ DONT CROSS IF A VEHICLE IS ENTERING AN INTERSECTION!! USE YOUR BRAINS!!

I didn't see anything in the article that said they were in an intersection. Where did you come up with that? Also, what are the chances that 2 adults are going to KNOWINGLY walk out in front of an oncoming car, especially when they had their daughter in tow? You just making stuff up or what?

Im just making a point to look both ways before you cross the street. Its not hard to avoid getting hit by a car. Just use your eyes.

Why don't you use your brains and click on the link to the article in the local paper's website. You would see the photo that shows the street to be more than two lanes, which means it takes more time to cross the street. Based on where the debris is located, the family was in the middle of the PEDESTRIAN LANE when they were hit. The driver is completely at fault in this instance, which is why she has now been issued a ticket for careless driving.

Again look both ways before you cross the street. So they were J-walking?

People need to learn to not cross the road in a crosswalk when a car is entering an intersection. Survival of the fittest will press on the weak will get hit by cars!

Drivers need to look where they are going. My bet is this person was texting or talking on the phone or doing any number of things besides looking at where the car was going and if there was anyone in the crosswalk.
