After eight seasons and a movie headed to the big screen, Ari Emanuel, the real life inspiration for foul-mouthed agent Ari Gold on HBO's "Entourage", confesses that he "didn't think the show would go anywhere."
The Daily reports the co-CEO of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, who reps A-list stars like Matt Damon, Martin Scorsese, and "Entourage" creator and executive producer Mark Wahlberg, told the crowd at a visit to PepsiCo headquarters in New York, that he was so pessimistic about the show he never even told his wife Sarah that he was inspiration for the now beloved character.
According to the paper, Emanuel's wife learned about Ari Gold and his wife, Melissa, played by Perrey Reeeves, from her friends. By the show's final season the Gold family was near divorce and Emanuel told the crowd that although Ari Gold's personality was based on him, the show is not an accurate depiction of his marriage.
For a superagent it's surprising Emanuel didn't have the foresight to realize what a success "Entourage" would become.
Some fans apparently love and miss the show so much that Adrien Grenier who played hotshot actor Vincent Chase, recently told reporters that he has to console fans on the street who miss Vince, Ari and all the boys.
