From the man who brought us "Keep On Walking" now comes a film montage with a superiority complex. Super cutter Brian Carroll explains it like so:

This type of shot is commonly referred to as a "God's Eye View" angle. The camera lens is perpendicular to the subject without any POV reference, which gives the viewer an omniscient viewpoint of the character and the surrounding space.

Based off what we're seeing here, we have a few thoughts: a.) filmmakers spring for the God's eye view when something horrible is about to happen, b.) being God would make us dizzy, and c.) Karen O. has a great God voice.
