Hannu Toivonen's Mistake: Finnish Goalie Allows Goal From Opposing Blue Line (VIDEO)

Well that's embarrassing.

During a HockeyAllsvenskan derby match -- which it should be noted but not confirmed, is the best name for a professional hockey league ever -- between Rogle and Malmo of Sweden, Rogle defenseman Jesper Jensen let loose a shot from his own blue line that somehow Buckner'd Rogle goalie Hannu Toivonen and went in the net. The announcer in the video aptly described the flub as an "improbable goalie screw up."

Toivonen, who is Finnish, has played in the NHL, and may be best known for his unusual mask, which we believe must have disrupted his vision for this play.

Rogle would go on to win the game 4-2. Toivonen now joins an elite list that includes Tommy Salo and Vesa Toskala, of former NHL goalies from Scandinavia who have let in goals from extremely long range.
