Posted: 11/03/11 08:28 AM ET

Daniel Craig

UPDATE: So, the press conference is over and here's what we know...

The movie will be called "Skyfall," Daniel Craig is back as Bond, Javier Bardem and Albert Finney are indeed involved (Bardem as the villain, Finney as an intelligence official), Naomi Harris is playing a field agent named Eve and the film is working on a $230 million budget.

Here's the synopsis: "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

PREVIOUSLY: The name is Bond, James Bond. But what is his next movie named? We should know that soon.

Sony is staging an elaborate press conference to announce the as-yet untitled 23rd film in the official James Bond canon on Thursday, and we're bringing you all the details. Here's what we know so far.

Sam Mendes is directing, while Daniel Craig is back for his third go as 007. Javier Bardem will be a villain, Naomi Harris will supposedly be Moneypenny, Bérénice Marlohe is rumored to be the next Bond Girl, Albert Finney will allegedly play Judi Dench's boss at British Intelligence, Ralph Fiennes has some sort of potentially evil role and they're filming in either India or South Africa.

Other than that, we'll just have to wait until the secret agent reveals more -- watch below for new details.

I vote they go for an obscure and memorable name, like "Quantum Schrodinger Vengeance" or something.

are the extra clicks really worth your reputation? i think an honest headline touting bardem would have worked just fine. unless of course your goal is to teach people not to trust you.

This is going to be so cool! Bardem is the bad guy and he'll be fantastic in that role. Can't wait to see it! Love Bond films.

I know there is an argument out there that the new stories and the new Bond don't connect to the original, and I say "so whattt....!" What makes a good story is one that can evolve to fit the times. Frankly, I stopped watching the newest biggest and baddest Bond films when they became so outrageous my movie watcher's heart could no longer take that leap of faith into the (film) and believe (this is all true.) Bond was destined to whither away under the old mad way of film making until Daniel Craig happened along with a real story about sweat, muscle and down home effort a blue collar girl like me could relate to and believe. Today the story may be a bit off line from the original, but its believable...and isn't that what we want in an age of purveyors of political lies?

The overriding story arch is for the Daniel Craig 'era' Bond films to go back to the 'future' from this 'past' alternate theory of how Bond got his 'kill' rating with the signature gadgets, womanizing, and worldly escapades in between sipping "shaken..not stirred" martinis.

This is really what is exciting about this relaunch of the tired Bond movie franchise..
It will be a fantastic cinematic tour de force when the two story lines align..

Your absolutely right! This is an exciting relaunch of an old Bond movie franchise...but with a newness & a modern mule kick that knocks the audience off of its feet. I am soo not interested in the stirred martini over the (how did he do that?) I imagine that the real Bond men are fit, smart and so under cover you'd never know they were what they are until that fatal gasp of "oh, shit..." hits you. I think back in the bad ole days of Bond there was a fascination with technology; but, that ship has sailed beause modern men and women are comfortable with gadgets.. so comfortable we are no longer gasping with wonder... instead... its "that old thing? give me something reallll..." Real men run, work out, kick out like Bruce Lee and box like Tyson when the need arises... its alot less colorful...but, it makes more movie connective sense then this illogical technology that (just can't be) ... because it can't... I now sit in my chair and watch the new bond and just revel in it ... its totally awesome...

Skyfall is arguably the worst Bond title ever. SKYMALL jokes aside. Cubby wouldn't have allowed a title like this. Titles in James Bond films are important, they are unique. Even the non-fleming titles SOUND like Fleming titles. This sounds like you would find it among the straight to video action flicks of the 1980's.

there are so many amazing British people posting on this thread. talk to me more with your strange words that I don't understand!

I guess some people really liked the Pierce Brosnan style of Bond in the movies. I loved him when I saw his Bond flicks, but now that I've seen Craig.. stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done. He's friggin' amazing. Brutal, sexy, charming, seductive, abrasive at times when he needs to be, did I say SEXY?! I find myself imagining all men in those white jeans from Quantum of Solace...

Let's hope that the thing he has to hide is a romantic involvement with M during the "Thunderball" Days.... OOPS! That's right 'M' was a guy during that time period.

Good thing that this is about an Englishman and not about an American running for Political Office, the media would be all over it.

Try to disqualify his valid observation by pointing to another terrible title of another movie is not exactly the mark of genius on your part.
