Tiger Woods Prepares For Australian Open: Golfer Talks Practice, Struggles In Singapore

Tiger Woods

SINGAPORE -- Tiger Woods believes he's ready to return to top form after shaking off injuries that have undermined his performance for the last two years.

The former world No. 1 says that he has been practicing frequently and getting his playing instincts back.

"The last couple of years, I haven't really played as well as I'd like," Woods said Thursday during a one-day stopover in Singapore. "I made some changes in my swing and I've obviously been hurt and that kind of added to it.

"Now I'm healthy, playing again, playing more and playing consistently."

Woods hasn't won a tournament since 2009 and has fallen out of the top 50 for the first time since he was a 20-year-old rookie in 1996. Woods played at the Frys.com Open last month and tied for 30th. He is scheduled to play in the Australian Open from Nov. 10-13.

Woods chalked up his recent struggles to the "cyclical" nature of a golfer's career.

"You look at everyone's career, you have these ebbs and flows," he said. "We don't play well all the time."

All the Tiger haters wish they had his problems.

Jealousy is transparent.

David Vitter, Newt Gingrich, and many other politicians cheated on their wives as badly as Tiger but they are still around being re-elected (Vitter) or aspiring to be the next US president (Gingrich). Why Tiger is being demonized so much?

And how about the Governator - Arnold Schwartzenegger? He repeatedly had sex and an affair with his maid under the same roof with his wife, and while they were traveling, made her pregnant at the same time he made his wife pregnant - and yet, after all that comes out in the open, he gets a major movie deal.

I always thought, what if the tables were turned, and Tiger was the Black caddie and Williams the White golfer/employer, and Tiger said the same things about his White boss after he was fired as Williams did. Do you really believe the media would have sided with a Black caddie against his famous White golfer/boss?”

Golf is what he does for a living and loves to do. Where do you want him to go?

Greg Norman is a stinker...Tiger has every right to play...
11:27 AM on 11/05/2011
I think Norman is saying what he is to goad Tiger into getting angry. He wants Tiger to play badly obviously and taking a cheap shot like he did is one way to get to him... or so he thinks.

Tell that to the fans who pack the courses and watch TV coverage whenever Tiger plays. Your own personal issues with him pale in comparison to the priorities of the PGA.

When those folks become golf fans instead of Tiger fans, then the PGA has something. Anything less is simply another case of the cult of celebrity that engages way too many Americans.

Tiger still has the physical game, but I'm not sure he will ever get over the stigma of the cheating husband, the stigma that haunts so many people who are in the limelight of any walk of life. I mean, if I cheat, a few people know of it. If the average citizen cheats, a few people know of it.
BUT TIGER WOODS, THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS OF IT. Not only that, but every sordid detail as well. What is he thinking as he walks within the ropes? The whole world is looking at him, and I'm sure he's thinking-" what are they thinking of me"? This is a tough hurdle to get over, but for a star of this magnitude, it's GIGANTIC. His father taught him mental toughness. I wonder if he engrained it sufficiently enough to carry Tiger through?

It's not for him to get over. If people cant let it go than it will always be brought up. All he can do is work on his game.

Who care what Greg Norman had to says,if it was not for Tiger Woods they would not be making the kind of money that golf paid today and they all know it.They all should be paying him to play.
