Occupy DC Protesters March On Koch-Affiliated Event At Convention Center (PHOTOS)

WASHINGTON -- Protesters marched on the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Friday evening where Americans for Prosperity, a conservative organization funded in part by the Koch brothers, was assembled for its Defending The American Dream Summit and Ronald Reagan tribute dinner.

During the dinner, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said "I am proud to know the Koch brothers," according to The New York Times.

Across the street from the convention center, counterprotesters had organized Occupy The Koch Brothers, featuring a Guerilla Drive-In event featuring videos "fun videos that expose the Koch Brothers in colossal fashion," according to the event's website.

Several streets and intersections around Mount Vernon Square were closed during the duration of the protest near the convention center. A driver heading southbound on 7th Street NW went into a crowd of protesters and injured three people, according to The Associated Press. Metropolitan Police Department said that no charges will be filed against the driver. More details here.

Good! This is from The OTher 98%, before The 99%. Close, lots of overlap. I support both. The K0ches have been pushing their version of the American Dream for decades, which, if you look around, doesn't include the middle class, doesn't include clean air and water, doesn't include any fuel source besides oil and nuclear, and doesn't include programs to help anyone but the very rich.

In that video you can see the two agitators who later appeared in the 'press conference' video with the woman who claimed she was hit by a car. They all make statements to make it sound as if they were minding their own business when a motorist sought them out to run over; yet here you see one of them blocking a car with his body, refusing to move; and the other part of an obscenity-filled confrontation with a reporter. Since they are obviouis liars, their association casts doubts on the 'victim's story'.

I sympathize with the protesters, but can someone please explain to me why they dress up like Guy Fawkes? It seems that they think he was an anarchist, when in reality he was a conspirator in a plot to kill the king of England and enact a Catholic theocracy for the Pope. He wanted England to be ruled by the catholic church, not anarchy...

we will and beyond. it won't get any smaller anytime soon.everyday more and more people wake up the what the rich like the koch brothers and the karl roves are tring to do to this country. and we won't take it any more. it's people like you that need to lose your job then run out of benefits no jobs to be had unless you take minimum wage and have to work 3 or 4 jobs then lose your home and then they try to take your dignity, then you will know what it's like to live on nothing. so enjoy giving them more of your income because they arn't rich enough then they will kick you to the curb

I'm glad to see there are some willing to take the time to protest the goings on of the Koch Bros. They need to know that "we the people" know what they're about, and that they're not unopposed. Protests are a small thing to them, I suppose. Still, it's a symbolic fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench.

people need to educate them selves about ALEC as well. www.alecexposed.org once they learn what alec is all about they will not like what is in store for them, but they won't see it because they are brrainwashed into thinking that they need to give the rich more of their money, until they don't have any then they will realize they were duped.
