Tragedy struck the world of motor sports again on Sunday as freestyle motocross rider Jim McNeil died from injuries suffered during a crash before the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

The 32-year-old FMX rider was set to participate in an exhibition before the NASCAR event at Texas Motor Speedway. After the crash on The Midway area of the site, McNeil was taken to a nearby hospital and soon pronounced dead.

A member of the Boost Mobile FMX team, McNeil was highly regarded in the racing community for his skills and his eagerness to compete. His bio at GrindTV.com describes him as "one of the hardest FMX pros out there."

The FreestyleMX.com Facebook page had the following message about McNeil's death:

Today we mourn the loss of Jim Mcneil and remember the happiness he brought us all. You will never be forgotten because you were AND still are the Real Deal. We love you buddy.

McNeil's death is the fourth to rock motor sports in recent weeks. IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon died in a massive wreck on Oct. 16, off-road racing champion Rick Huseman was killed in a plane crash that same day, and Italian rider Marco Simoncelli was killed during a MotoGP race in Malaysia on Oct. 23.

Jim McNeil's Tribute Video By: BDubProductions
A truly amazing song along with a truly amazing person. Bryan Wilkins (BDubProductions) and Donnie Barber (Barber Freestyle) filmed Jimmy at his FMX park @ Speedworld in Arizona. Mad love for Jimmy will always be in our hearts. He left us with so many incredible memories. He was the epitome of a true, professional FMX rider/image. My heart hurts and I shed tears every time I watch this. I will always love you with all of my heart Jimmy! R.I.P.

I've had my motorcycle riding days, but I never competed in racing, and today, at age 55, I can't believe just how foolish motorcycles and motorcycle riding can be.

This is a sport that comes with danger. No one said it was safe.

this sport is excessively dangerous and should have more govt regulation to protect riders and spectators.

Does anyone else find it odd that this article is brought to you by a cell phone that you can't use with Boost Mobile?

Even sadder that one of the worlds best FMX riders couldn't've avoided his injuries

These riders risk their lives every single time they go out to practice, in order to put on spectacular shows for audiences, they push the envelope to the extremes, and there is no avoiding injuries 100% of the time. They love doing what they do. God bless his family and comfort them in this time. It's heart breaking.
