New York Times:

Mitt Romney was polite as he took his seat in coach next to Carolyn McClanahan of Jacksonville, Fla., on a recent Delta flight to Boston. He thanked her when she said she appreciated his efforts to reform health care as the governor of Massachusetts and even posed for a photo with her.

Let me get this straight: Mitt has FIVE sons all past age 18. When asked why none were in military he said that they were serving this country by working on his campaign. Mitt made a statemet about him sympathizing with those out of work sasyin he too was out of work. The fact that he and his Bain Capital company leveraged many companies and closed many businesses and he is worth half a BILLION means  Read More...

I am not voting for Romney, but not being friendly on a plane is not exactly worth 1500 blog posts IMO. Who cares. You either support Romney for his policy prescriptions and management qualities / skills or you don't. So many on airplanes just want to be left alone and it says nothing to me about that person if that is his attitude.

Isn't it amazing that the party that stands for christian values wants to cut unemployment benefits for those who have lost jobs in the worse recession since the great depression ? Those who have lost jobs are called welfare kings. We had plenty of welfare kings on wall street and in the banking
industry.Romney should tell the unemployed that the military is hiring.

I can see how a normal person would want to be left alone in this situation, but Mitt is running for president. One of his biggest criticisms is his inability to connect with people. He should be aware of every opportunity to connect with people and turn that perception around.

I saw this Dr. tonight on MSNBC, and Romney could have been received some valuable Info IF he had bothered to listen.

I am by no means a Romney fan. All I can say is he is the best in the list of ridiculous republican candidates, but for crying out loud! Let the man fly in peace. He is not obliged to talk to anyone on an airplane any more than the rest of us are.

The way the GOTP field is (mis)behaving, and the way the media will grab anything to make headlines, he was wise not to say too much. Had he so much as asked the woman next to him if she would like his airline peanuts, he'd be in Herman Cain's boat. Every simple remark would be in a "shocker" headline the next day. The days when a politician could engage strangers in idle chat are over.

Criticize Romney for other things, but for heaven's sake his not wanting to be chatted up on a 2-hour flight is not worth the attention. I don't blame him.

The best part of being in the 1% is getting to pretend that the other 99% doesn't exist. Believe me, I know a few of the 1%. They do not want to talk to you.

I'll bet the whole flight Mitt was thinking, "damn, should have taken my Gulfstream. Then I wouldn't have to put up with this commoner."

Fly coach...check. Next, buy a pick-um up truck and a "ranch", learn to talk like a idiot with a southern accent and the base will love me.

You don't expect Romney to converse with the co-passenger as she was not pre-screened and provided with right questions to ask.

He was given a government sponsored military deferment. He may have served if he wasn't involved in a fatal accident where he was seriously injured.

Mormon church obtained Vietnam draft deferrals for Romney, other missionaries. No record of deferral due to accident.

I'm certainly no theologist - is it against the Mormon religion to serve in the U.S. military? I don't remember meeting even one when I was in the Army.
