Mexico Prison Search Nets Peacocks, Prostitutes And Pot

ACAPULCO, Mexico -- Authorities say a surprise search at an Acapulco prison has netted two peacocks, 100 fighting cocks, 19 prostitutes and two sacks filled with marijuana.

Police in the Mexican resort city also found dozens of televisions, several bottles of alcohol and knives.

Guerrero state spokesman Arturo Martinez says federal and state police searched the prison before dawn Monday.

Martinez didn't say how the women, birds and the other banned objects got into the prison. He referred to the peacocks as "pets."

The resort city has been plagued by crime since last year when gangs began fighting for control after the arrest of Edgar Valdez Villarreal, also known as "La Barbie."

Cock fighting is popular in parts of Mexico.

The only thing i think would be odd about a mexican prison would be if there are empty cells, & the full ones not being filled with twenty people!

Better in Mexico City....they have tennis courts, steam room, Intima to bring your wife or girlfriend,
restaurants on site,gambling at night in the dorms,cell phones,computers,drugs,beer,rum,cells with hot water 24/7,etc etc etc.
I spent 2 months there and wish they would have kept me longer...the best time of my life...Being a gringo I had my choice of the girls that would be allowed in on visiting days to have sex with..
The rich drug guys flew girls in from Las Vegas...this is all true,

That's nothing compare to prison in Venezuela where prisoners have guns, machine guns, grenades,liquor, also a vip pool for their Kids when they come to visit.

Why is that ironic. At least they leave with the education they should have had before they went in. It keeps people occupied during the long days and might help keep them from ending back in there again. Which, I might add is the main reason for locking them up in the first place.

There are educated people that belong in prison. Look at Wall Street, D.C.,Corporations and the list goes on and on. But you have a good point, but it's hard to get a good job as a ex-con.

why must it take incarceration for one to gain educational opportunity? why cannot this be avail before it's too late, before someone had to serve as victim for this door to open?

recidivism rates for those are much, much lower: "AA =13.7%, while those with a Bachelor's degree recidivate at a rate of 5.6%, and those with a Master's degree recidivate at a rate of 0%" while without obtaining an education in jail is between 43-51%.

the IRONY lies in the fact that our country is diluting/decimating our public education system and higher ed is evermore a thing for the moneyed elite. we must even endure a political ploy to pooh-pooh intellectualism, where professorial is an insult. why must it take incarceration for one to gain educational opportunity? why cannot this be avail before it's too late, before someone had to serve as victim for this door to open?

MAYBE WHAT WAS THOUGHT TO BE A PRISON WAS A LEFT OVER MOVIE SET, THEY MAKE MOVIES SOMETIMES IN ALCAPULCO. THE SETS ARE SUPPOSE TO LOOK REAL.
GREAT WAY TO ADVERTISE ALCAPULCO, NOW ALL THE HIGH FLIERS WILL WANT TO
SEE THE PROSTITUTES AND MALE A FEW CONTACTS.
