16 Latin American Nations Want To Challenge SC Immigration Law

Sc Immigration Law Challenged

By JIM DAVENPORT   11/ 8/11 06:26 PM ET   AP

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Sixteen Latin American and Caribbean nations have asked to join in the U.S. Department of Justice's lawsuit against South Carolina's new illegal immigration law, citing concerns for their citizens.

Mexico, Honduras, Brazil, Ecuador and Chile and other countries filed papers Tuesday, asking to join the Justice Department's litigation in Charleston.

The law would require law officers who make a traffic stop to call federal immigration officials if they suspect someone is in the country illegally. Opponents say the measure would encourage racial profiling.

The 16 nations state in their filings that the law would lead to state-sanctioned discrimination against their citizens.

Justice Department lawyers are asking the court to stop the law from taking effect in January, saying immigration policy is solely the domain of the U.S. government.

Its a sad day, when United States citizen are taken to
court for trying to uphold U.S. laws. Furthermore, its
even sadder when these 16 Latin American countries,
who stand to benefit for the illegal immigration, actually
can join in, to aid the US Department of Justice.

Its blatantly illegal and unconstitutional for the Feds to sue the states when a lawsuit is mostly to be on behalf of a foreign power- impeachable offense

Check out a Movie called "They Live" If only we had special Glasses/Goggles to spot the Illegals.

Also check out any episode of Star Trek - if only we had transporter beams right at our borders we could dematerialize all intruders and rematerialize them unscathed a thousand miles south.

"They Live" is a veiled quasi-documentary about Judaic control over society

What's worse than these Latin nations demanding rights in this country? The liberals in this country who are aiding and abetting the demise of their own country, and in some cases, their own race.

Now, I'm not making this about race, but only doing what blacks, and latino's do, and that is, show concern for the right, and preservation of their own race, unabated by accusations of being racist for doing so.

L is not a race, my friend and blaming libs for this mess is myopic, But I agree with you in that these demands are simply absurd. If these nations are really concerned for their citizens they should bring them back to their homeland.

I disagree with "myopic". White liberal's constantly demonize their own to exploit, and score, political points with minorities. It's one of their oldest tactics. From Ed Shultz to Lawrence O'Donnell to Chris Matthews, to congressman, John Dingell and the rest of his ilk. They are putting innocent white people in danger by arousing anger every election cycle. Case in point, this year alone there have been a rise in unprovoked attacks on whites, simply for being white. As for the "L" not being a race... that was an obvious generalization. When someone hears the word Latino, they think "Hispanic" the two words have become interchangable.

Oh my goodness: those 16 countries are upset that their citizens will be checked too. Too bad. If their country cares for them, then the country should get them back home! They should do more to provide for them, to insure decent wages, to insure legal integrity towards them. I've often said that ILLEGAL STILL MEANS AGAINST THE LAW. But we have to look at the conditions that caused them to leave their countries - and encourage them to change it to help their people. It really isn't our American responsibility to deny an American a job and turn around and give it to an illegal so they can pay less wages. I think they should go home, but with their conditions so bad, that would only drive them back and we'd find more bodies along the Texas and Arizona border areas. No simple solution now.

Why would these countries challenge the law? What American let alone Latin American would want to go to South Carolina anyway?

These sixteen countries can all go pound sand. The citizens from those countries come to the United States (legally or illegally) relieving the welfare systems of those countries and further over-burden ours. Then, those same citizens send American dollars back to their respective countries through the mail. All the while, some of those countries are receiving some kind of foreign aid from our Federal Government. It's a win-win for those sixteen countries. They get to lighten their welfare loads and receive US government cash.

I'm sure the Obama administration would be more then happen to consider the needs of the these nations, over the needs of the states.

The mods are nothing but censors. Forcing THEIR views of what the posters on this subject should be writing. There is absolutely NOTHING in this post that could possibly violate the rules.

This is the 3rd attempt - I will keep posting until it clears the censors.

This issue is very clear. These same countries have already vocalized their support of allowing the children of their citizens who are here illegally to get citizenship under the policy of the 14th currently being used. The key issue in the debate over the citizenship of anchors is "jurisdiction". The 14th and especially the authors of that amendment have been clear that jurisdiction for citizenship must be full. That is why legal residents (not citizens) have the right for their kids to be citizens. It is also why diplomats kids are not. Illegals are certainly not under our full jurisdiction.

Yet here are those countries coming out and admitting these illegals are not under our jurisdiction in this issue. A foreign country can't represent me or any other citizen in a legal action. Their ability to have a voice on any domestic state issue is very weak anyway but they have absolutely no standing unless they are representing people under THEIR authority.

Hypocrites!

I support your endeavor. Many have been censored for unknown reason other than they might not LIKE what you posted.

They are profiled because last time I checked the vast majority of illegal aliens are Latino. Common sense tells me if the majority of law breaking illegals are Latino I should focus on Latinos and catch them. Hiding behind this liberal idea of profiling being used nefariously is a joke.

Id do and expect the same if it was Europeans in this same situation but we all know that while many immigrants here illegally are European or Asian the VAST majority or Latino

Hypocrites. All of them. I would like these countries to explain THEIR immigration laws.

The states aren't allowed to dictate US immigration policy but it would seem that other countries enjoy that privelage. Does anyone else find that odd?

Yes. Plus, I think some of these countries have stricter laws, especially Mexico.

These countries have absolutely no legal standing to challenge anything a US state does. If we had legal standing the US should sue these countries for dumping their non productive citizens into the US.

I believe their government sends them here. If they are concerned about their people they need to be back in their native country so their officials can make sure they are treated properly. They have no concern for their people. If they did, they would not be here now.

Why don't these sixteen purported nations actually make a noble attempt for once in their incompetent histories at making life remotely livable for their own beleaguered citizens? The Third World needs to get off its soap box, roll up its sleeves and get to work.
