Stephen Colbert is very upset that the left-wing media is out to destroy his hero Herman Cain, and just as he's done in recent weeks, will continue to defend him. That is, until he found out exactly what Cain is accused of.
With allegations of Cain's sexual harassment of up to five women dominating the headlines, Cain was forced to respond in a high-profile press conference yesterday. And right off the bat, he wanted the American public to know how serious he is about sexual harassment. Colbert was quick to point out that "serious" may not have been the word he'd have chosen to describe his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the previous day.
But Colbert refuses to be complicit in the media's takedown of a reasonable businessman running for president, so he decided to write him a personal check for $10,000 live on television to add to increase in fundraising that the Cain campaign has experienced since these allegations arose. Until Colbert finds out what Sharon Bialek actually accused Cain of doing to her. No amount of money can make that go away (as Cain is quickly learning).
