Human Foot Found In Sasamat Lake, Canada

A human foot was found in Vancouver's False Creek in August.

The agony of the feet continues in Canada.

British Columbia has been plagued by human feet, eight of which have recently washed ashore in the province, with another appendage found on the shore of Sasamat Lake near Port Moody on Friday, The Vancouver Sun reports.

This is at least the ninth foot discovered in British Columbia since 2007, according to The National Post. By other counts, there have been a dozen feet found.

The case of the mysterious feet has vexed authorities and the public, with details of the latest find differing from its predecessors in two ways, the CBC says.

The ninth foot, found last Friday by a child at a camp, was in a body of fresh water. All the previous feet, believed to have come from six different people, were in saltwater. And unlike the first eight, which were inside running shoes, the latest foot was in a hiking boot, media outlets said.

Like the earlier incidents, investigators don't suspect foul play in the latest discovery, The Globe and Mail reports. Medical examiners believe the feet separated from dead bodies due to natural causes.

"Like the earlier incidents, investigators don't suspect foul play in the latest discovery, The Globe and Mail reports. Medical examiners believe the feet separated from dead bodies due to natural causes."

That just sounds too suspect to me... either this is a common occurance that happens everywhere and just happened to make the news this time or strange things happening with our northern neighbors.

Nothing more than tidal currents pushing debris (in this case, the feet of jumpers - we have lots of tall bridges over waterways) in common patterns of distribution. Sorry.

It's all so ironic.

Could you please return those feet to Washington DC? They belong to the mouths of our Republican lineup.

Feet found have been protected due by shoes. Since the ankle is weak, and after being in the water, it breaks off from the body. Also, feet can become adipocere (like turning to soap, almost) and hard to identify.

Correction: Far too many to be a coincidence. Sorry about that.

" Medical examiners believe the feet separated from dead bodies due to natural causes". What is so natural about this?

I hate it when after spending a day humping in the mountains back packing your feet just walk off never to return. Any of these feet size 13?

Something rings a bell here. You know the 'Bones' series? The woman forensic anthropologist. Well the series is based on some books by a real life forensic person. If memory serves one of those stories had to do with finding feet and running shoes. Not being a big fan of her writing skills I haven't the inclination to go searching this out. But since the settings are both in Canada is the possibility of a copycat, or a grisly spoof of 'Bones' posible?

I think they identified a couple of pairs of the feet through dna as missing people, probable suicides..if the body has been in the water for a long time, parts will detach from rot etc...the feet in sneakers stay buoyant as the sneakers can float and evetually drift ashore, where depends on the currents.

Then why isn't that happening everywhere and not in just one area such as this?

this story about the feet has been ongoing for years. this is even clearly stated in the article, for those who didn't catch when this was all over the news three, four years ago. ergo, basic logic would dictate that, much like l&o gets their show ideas from the headlines, that bones episode was BASED on this case.

I think someone is "footing" the law enforcement officials!

In all seriousness, this reminds me of the case when they found 8 pairs of feet a few a years ago....
I aam wondering if there is medical school in the area where these have been found?
