Erik Estrada At The Latin Grammys, Adjusting His Wig (VIDEO)

A Univision reporter stops to talk to former CHIPs star Erik Estrada on the red carpet of the Latin Grammys. She asks Estrada if he is enjoying the red carpet and he seems to awkwardly encroach on her personal space as he explains that it's his first time at the Latin Grammy and how "nice" his tuxedo looks.

Estrada, who seems to have indulged in a few pre-show cocktails, says he got ready for the event by "changing his hair color" and then...wait for it... he adjusts his hairpiece from side to side. Embarrassed for him, she gasps and says, "No, don't do that to your wig!" He then points and laughs at her as if the joke is on her. Estrada replies, "Ha, ha! I do it to scare the people." The Univision reporter gracefully wraps up the interview as if nothing happened.

Judging by how that interview went, it's hard to tell whether or not the Mira Quien Baila! star will be invited back to the Latin Grammys.

So what's the problem? He's not a young man any more but he still looks great. True he does sound a little sloshed but that trick with the hair...it could be his real hair. I've seen some people who can do that with their hair/scalp. And even if he does wear a wig, he certainly has a good sense of humor about it. Good for him and no shame either.

Erik Estrada did voice acting for a character in the animated series "Sealab 2021" (late 2000 through early 2005).

(From Wikipedia: Marco Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar Gabriel Garcia Marquez (Erik Estrada) - is the station's engineer. He is very strong and a ladies' man, and often exclaims random things in Spanish, although not actually speaking the language. [...] Rank: Lieutenant Commander)

That series involved hilarious (and politically incorrect, not safe for work) situations! I had a lot of respect for Erik Estrada for doing voice acting for that excellent show.

In episode #13 ("Swimming in Oblivion") "Marco" plays a CHiPS video game and sings the theme song from that show. Online forum comments regarding episode #27 ("Splitsville") mentions: "Quinn's comment about Marco's Spanish being terrible is a play on the fact that Erik Estrada is not actually fluent in Spanish." LOL
