Final 'Inheritance' Book Replaces Steve Jobs Biography On Amazon Bestseller List

Final Inheritance Book

11/10/11 02:10 PM ET   AP

NEW YORK -- The conclusion to Christopher Paolini's "Inheritance" fantasy cycle sold nearly 500,000 copies on its first day of release, one of the year's best openings, but a drop from Paolini's previous book.

Random House Children's Books announced Thursday that the combined hardcover, audio and e-books sales for Paolini's "Inheritance" was 489,500. The fourth and final book of his million-selling series came out Tuesday. The third "Inheritance" novel, "Brisingr," was released in 2008 and sold 550,000 copies on its first day. Random House spokeswoman Judith Haut attributed the decline to the downfall of the Borders superstore chain, which went out of business earlier this year.

As of Thursday afternoon, "Inheritance" was No. 1 on Amazon.com's best seller list, displacing the long-running leader, Walter Isaacson's "Steve Jobs."

Grateful to hear that it isn't Snooki's new book.

I remember I read the first and second book of the Inheritance cycle before I got bored of the series. He took too long to come out with the second book and after a while I didn't care too much about Eragon anymore. Maybe I'll re-read the series from the beginning when I have no other fantasy series I want to read.

Yes, it is an amazing series! Probably think I'm nuts, but am re-reading from the beginning. If you haven't read the series by Anne McCaffrey - "The Dragonriders of Pern", give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

It is not surprising -- Biographies are not nearly as popular as fiction over a span of time--- Biographies are like Newspapers, and yesterday's papers are for lining bird cages -sadly

For the record, another HuffPost story has the latest Wimpy Kid outselling the Jobs bio....

I didn't feel the need to buy the book since HuffPo was diligent posting daily summaries of the various chapters. Why? - I don't know.

Damn.
I was expecting to read some publishing house or Rovian Action committee has spent a mountain of cash to push some trash from a right wing talking head to the top.
Again.
Nice to be surprised once in a while.

The republicons buy each other's books by the thousands to get them on the best seller list. They've been doing it at for least 20 years.

Somewhere there is a landfill with more books than the great library of Alexandria.

Note I said more books, not titles.
