Lady Gaga Dons Gold McQueen At The 2011 Bambi Awards In Germany (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/11/11 02:25 PM ET   Updated: 11/11/11 02:26 PM ET

The Bambi Awards are one of Germany's biggest deal award shows, designed to honor the biggest stars in media and television -- think Emmys. Lady Gaga showed up to this year's ceremony last night to accept her deer-shaped award for Pop International, and obviously, to show off some of her trademark quirky fashion.

The frothy Alexander McQueen gown from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection features some heavy-duty gold armor that cascades out into a cream-colored skirt, which Gaga wore with aplomb, although the singer looked like she couldn't even open her eyelids all the way in the forehead-encroaching gold headpiece. Yikes! Only Lady Gaga would care more about fashion than being able to see straight ahead.

Later, the songstress performed her new single "Marry the Night" in a car-shaped piano, clad in all black.

Another celeb turning heads last night was Gwyneth Paltrow, who blinded everyone with her bright green Elie Saab gown.

Check out our side-by-side of Gaga vs. the McQueen runway, and see more photos in our slideshow below.

I don't care how you dress her up. Homely is homely. And she's lucky to get THAT close to good looking.

I'm sorry, but *this* is what passes for "haute couture"? Eye of the beholder, I suppose.

While GaGa is entertaining us all over the world, she shows the right stuff as a pure artist and every sense of the word. How her and let's not forget her people behind the scenes come up with ideas that are so crafty and time breaking amazes me. Not all her costumes are great but as art they make a point and do as she does so well. ENTERTAIN. The fact that all her fellow entertainers have copied her is enlightening in that they have not touched the level of her art success. And her music is so exciting. The woman can sing anything. She had Tony Bennett all hyped up while she sang and made his share of the song equally entertaining.

Gaga is just an amalgamation of pop stars from the last 50 years.

Unfortunately, most designers, obviously including Sarah Burton, don't realize that non-model-height women will be wearing the clothes and only design for women 5'10" and over (models); that subset of women does not include Gaga (5'2").

Tell me about it. I bought a McQueen dress online from NM and when it came in the mail and I so eagerly tried it on, I was nothing but disappointed. It was made for a woman who is at least 5'10 and with almost impossibly narrow hips. I'm 5'4 with a 24 in waist and 35 in hips... so yeah, far from "hefty." I was so heartbroken... I'm done with attempting to wear designer clothes!

All thoughts on the relative merits of Gaga's character or musical career aside, she made that dress look much more interesting than the runway model did.

"interesting" isn't better.
She came off looking like a stubby duck with black eyes and a face full of teeth.
Urk.

He was so talented and successful yet so tormented! Sad he took his own life. Wish someone could have reached out 2 him.

Tsk... This is what the lack of enough interesting news, or topics, will do for a person... I clicked on the 'weirdest' of all ~ Lady Ga Ga. A Madonna, she isn't... Just another loud, brassy, no talent wanna-be. (sigh) I couldn't even laugh, too pitiful. ~ Ah well, to each his own...

To each their own...I didn't like the look, but then again...I don't like most of her looks. Art and design are in the eye of the beholder...what one person sees as creative genius another sees as garbage...so whose to judge...if she felt good in it - then that's what matters.

The headpiece is very 1920's. Gaga is a lot of fun, never boring, talented & smart.

What does anyone see in GAGA? I look here and see a freak not a woman. She is a Madonna wanna be from NY is all. Talent I have yet to see any come from her.

Some people like clambering onto the latest fashion and Gag-a is it.
I'm with you on this one: little talent, less looks, no taste.

I'm all for individuality and style, but this particular dress (especially the "helmet") has to go...No Good!
