Miley Cyrus And Demi Lovato Love Their Curves

Miley Cyrus Defends Demi Lovato

It's refreshing to see celebrities saying something nice about each other for a change.

Although they haven't always been friends, former Disney stars Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, must be getting along these days.

On Nov. 11, Miley used her celebrity status and hefty Twitter following, to speak out against the insane and dangerous expectations of beauty.

It isn't clear exactly what prompted the rant, but the 18-year-old singer and actress first tweeted a photo of an emaciated woman:

"By calling girls like me fat this is what you're doing to other people. i love MYSELF & if you could say the same."

Miley followed up that tweet by posting a photo of Marilyn Monroe with the words, "PROOF that you can be adored by thousands of men, even when your thighs touch."

Lovato who has gained some weight in recent months, following treatment for an eating disorder, re-tweeted the photo and replied to Miley, writing: "AMEN!"

Something must have hit a nerve, because Miley passionately replied back:

"@ddlovato AMEN! I will destroy any one that ever calls you the F word. You have the SEXIIIESTTTT curvyyyy body! I LOVE IT! #werkthosecurves"

Demi seemed truly grateful for the kind words, and returned the compliment:

"@MileyCyrus god I love you. SO DO YOU!!! And whoever called you that has it coming. Miss you more than ever," she wrote. "@MileyCyrus ps SO proud of you for posting that! #curvesareBEAUTIFUL"

The pressure for starlets like Demi and Miley to live up to societal expectations of beauty is intense, and it's refreshing to see both of them speaking out against what is clearly a problem in Hollywood and rest of the world.

It's estimated that up to 24 million Americans suffer from an eating disorder yet celebrities are constantly berated for changes in their physical appearance, even after acknowledging they are suffering from the disease.

Lovato became a trending topic on Twitter in August, when mean-spirited Twitter users commented on her post-rehab figure.

Rather than ignoring the mean tweets, Lovato stood up to the online bullies, tweeting:

"I've gained weight. Get over it. That's what happens when you get out of treatment for AN EATING DISORDER."

Kudos to both Miley and Demi for speaking up, since eating disorders are rampant in Hollywood:

That this is even a topic for discussion...these ladies are beautiful. (stress the . ), this is the type of nonsense that drive young girl to fits and episodes of bulimia (sp. chk ?) - our girls have enough to worry about...come on with this non-issue BS, give the people something to really chew on...I get it we are celeb-obssessed, but can we at least not insult the reader and society with this dribble...did I mention how beautiful they both are...LOL...take care of each other!!!

People need to get a grip. Anyone that thinks either of these two is fat is a pervert.

You can't strut your stuff on the red carpet and then get defensive when people critique your image. Honestly, I think you should gain 100lbs and become a recluse just to spite everyone.

They're not even medically obese, maybe (MAYBE) overweight for their height, but not fat in the least. They look great to me, and I'm very sure a doctor wouldn't find any problems associated with their weight. So what will all the "I just worry for their health" haters say now? Will they admit they're really just shallow and unhappy people who just want to see everyone fit their image of perfection?

Anyone who thinks either of these young ladies is fat has a twisted sense of what normal is. But then, there's no earthly way anyone could think that the hollywierd scene if normal.

What a sad day for our country and the media hounds if these two ladies are being called fat. No wonder there are so many eating disorders in this country. The "journalists" and jealous individuals who say these things really need to stop and think before they do, because it affects more than their confidence, but also the confidence of little girls who look up to them and think "well if they are fat than I must be huge". On the other hand I think the word "curvy" is becoming way overused. As someone below mentioned, it's a body type and has nothing to do with weight. Too many obese women justify it by saying that they are curvy when they aren't.

If you are tired of being called fat, take some steps to solve the problem. Far too many beautiful girls are being careless how they eat. I'm sorry , fat isn't pretty whether it be a man or a woman

Being overweight and getting called fat is one thing; having real curves and getting called fat is another. You've been watching too much porn.

HOW COULD ANYONE CALL THESE LOVELY YOUNG LADIES FAT? They look SO much sexier than the "lollipops" (huge heads on stick bodies) that seem to represent the Hollywood standard of beauty.

I call them bobble heads but it's the same thing. These girls look great. It's a shame what the media has done to the female body image.
07:22 PM on 11/15/2011
Ok Im confused who called these 2 rails fat? They love their curves? They have no curves..You sure you have the right girls to go with the article as none of this makes any sense. Two over skinny non curvy girls upset because they were called fat when they look malnurished?????

Sad and disappointing that they're being called fat. They aren't underweight, but if they're bigger than a size 6 I'll eat my hat. No wonder there's eating disorders in both directions: Normal weight girls are being called fat, and in all the diet commercials some chick is squealing on about going from a size 10 (normal weight) to a 0 (underweight).
