Rupert Grint Reveals His Favorite 11-Year-Old 'Harry Potter' Moment

First Posted: 11/14/11 04:51 PM ET Updated: 11/14/11 05:07 PM ET

For a true "Harry Potter" fan, every scene is amazing, every moment special for one reason or another.

But what about the actors who portrayed our beloved heros?

Recently, the cast members flew down to Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter to christening the home release of "Deathly Hallows Part 2."

At a party that sounds like a real Hogwarts fete -- a performance by the frog choir, pints of butter beer, a wizard-clad waitstaff and fireworks -- that has us Slytherin-green with envy, Rupert Grint talked about his favorite scene with Movieline.

No, it's not when Ron defeated the Horcrux, nor when he and Hermione had their big screen smooch. Grint's favorite moment "Harry Potter" moment ever happened when they were just kids.

"I think the chess scene was always quite a big one for me, because the set was just amazing," the star said.

"That first film really was just so exciting. It was a whole new world for me. It was just very new. Getting to ride that horse and doing all of these stunts. It was just amazing at 11 years old to be there while they're blowing up chess pieces and others are on fire. It's something I'll always remember."

Can't remember? We've got the Ron's shinning moment right here.

And don't be shy -- share your own favorite HP moments!

That was the first really "fantastical" scene that impressed me too. Never saw anything quite like it before and it really matched the way I saw it in m mind from the book. But there were so many great moments in all the movies. Rupert was great, as were the other kids.

The one scene that stuck with me and still moves me was in the final movie, Deathly Hallows 2 when Harry talks to his parents before he is killed by Voldermort. I remember how completely quiet the theater was, not a single sound other than the dialog on screen....and yes, I teared up. A fitting final transition from boy to man.

There are so many. Snape's death scene (and memories) are burnt in my brain though. So sad :(

I remember that live-sized chess scene SO well, and Rupert Grint did a great job with it, too! He seemed very Ron, very smart about chess, very in command, then very willing to sacrifice himself for his friend. That scene really was a microcosm of what "Harry Potter" was all about, being willing to work together and sacrifice for your friends and a worthy cause greater than yourself. Good job -- and good choice of scene -- Rupert!

The chess scene was my guess, too. I think any kid would love to be on a giant horse statue that moves around on a chess board.

I am sooo going to miss all of the Harry Potter movies that could have/should have been made. Hard to say good bye to a series that was pretty darn good! Those kids were perfectly cast, IMO. The supporting cast was perfect. Snape? OMG! Perfection.

I only just read all the books. I am SO glad I waited until I watched all the movies before reading the books. As much as I loved the movies, I would have been really disappointed if I had read the books first. It baffles me the things they changed/left out. How Dobby is buried, for instance. Why couldn't they have done it the way the book has it, which was 1000 times better and more moving? I really could go on and on about the differences. Oh well. Either way, I will always enjoy watching the movies and even more so re-reading the books. It's like visiting with good friends...

Yes, I think everyone who's read HP first has similar complaints about things left out or altered. Still, I enjoyed them both.

My personal favorite:

Ginny: [helping a speechless and queasy looking Ron into the common room] It's ok, Ron. It's alright. It doesn't matter.
Harry: What happened to you?
Ginny: He just asked Fleur Delacour out.
Hermione: What?
Harry: What did she say?
Hermione: No, of course.
[Ron shakes his head in pained embarrassment]
Hermione: She said yes?
Ron: Don't be silly. There she was, just walking by... you know how I like it when they walk... I couldn't help it... it just sort of slipped out!
Ginny: Actually, he sort of screamed at her. It was a bit frightening.
Harry: What did you do then?
Ron: What else? I ran for it!

The first time I saw it, I laughed 'til I cried.

I'm 56 and I still like it when they walk...
