With the holidays just around the corner, anxiety levels are already beginning to climb. Stress, if left unchecked, can lead to a host of medical problems -- like stomach issues, headaches, fatigue or even full-fledged depression.

Meditation is commonly cited as the one surefire way to reduce stress without resorting to medication. But what if you just can't meditate? Stress-relief doesn't depend on the actual act of meditation as much on the process of disconnecting from the situation at hand and slowing your thoughts down.

Here's our list of non-meditative activities that will relieve stress.

A sunset, a sunrise, the rain, a thunderstorm... all under-appreciated stress-busters.

When you watch a natural phenomenon unfold, you're reminded not only of the earth's beauty but also of your own relative insignificance.

Realizing that you are but a tiny speck in the scheme of things is a great way to regain perspective -- and let go of your problems.

life doesnt have to be stressfull, ive got 4 kids and im a single parrent, when their mother rang me 5yrs ago to ask if i wanted them i said when were and what time, on the 3hr drive home i had a talk to the kids about the way iv been living since i split from their mum, the youngest one is 16 now and about to join his 3 brothers in the army, ive never had to shout at them tell them anything twice its been calm all these yrs, i respected them and they respected me, my boys are calm kids, they never stress and they always do the right things, it only takes loving your children the correct way to gain that respect, i couldnt have don it if the mother had been living with us, and i beleive my boys will now become better men, my point is that you make your own stress, your bring on your own bad health, worrying is for wimps, i stopped worrying when i split from the boys mother, i stopped smoking at the same time,

Everything is energy.
1. get out into nature to connect with that energy.
2. Do something repetitive with your hands to make that energy flow.
3 & 4. Get some exercise to improve breathing.
5. Removes the negative energy of clutter.
6. Massage is an energy practice.

Doing any of these successfully makes a person more able to meditate.
